That's because you have one of these silly modern cars with an electronic throttle and crappy driver aids.

On a slightly more helpful note, Here in the UK the throttle cut on braking can be mapped out. I wonder if it could be added as a patch to your existing file?

i always switch it off! the only other option i have is to remove the brake switch but then no one knows when im stopping lol

On the DBW cars I'm sure heel toe'ing doesn't work as the ECU stops it.

My Ecu only intervenes if you brake while accelerating doesn't seem to mind if you accelerate while braking haha

It doesn't as std... as soon as the ECU sees the brake switch actuated it cuts throttle... this can be mapped out though..

Plus my ME3.Awesome doesn't cut the throttle anyway, because I control the throttle with my foot, not some silly computer

Just to let you know prawn, after reading the whole 80 pages of this thread it has inspired me so much that I'm picking up another golf today with a oil pump failure, so all the info you have fed me will be coming into use! Haha

Those were the days of the K03s though weren't they! Things have moved on a fair bit since then

Just a little bit mate, I think I had about 200bhp from a dying ko3S, you had little over stock power from a dying and badly mapped ko4, and the thought of 280bhp seemed like a dream for both of us!

Funny how things change isn't it!

I can't wait for Silverstone GP next weekend

New oil cooler en route today, so that'll go back on at the weekend too. I'm thinking of relocating the cooler to behind the IC now that i have no aircon rad in there, but for silverstone I might just bolt it back up where it was to speed things along a bit.

Also going to look at 'relieving' the slam panel at the bottom a bit to get the intercooler core to sit inwards at the bottom, which will hopefully let me fit a new and slightly less cut up lower valance.

The current valance was fine when first trimmed, and retained it's external profile, but it was cut so thin in places and so tight over the core that it's now sadly broken and cracked in a few places.

haha it's alrigh dude, yeah quite a while but it gave me something to do while working nights haha

ME3.8: it's so sh*t that it runs the most powerful ko4 hyrbid the UK has seen to date....

That said, the safety features, and add-ons now available for ME7.5 do make it a much more attractive option, but I don't like DBW throttles, and do I really need launch control? It's cool, but useless for a FWD car, and whilst wideband would be nice, I have a standalone gauge and I always keep an eye on it.

If I were to change, I think it'd be for something like the emerald plug n play standalone setup, although that currently doesn't have knock control, which is one of the major plus points for the Bosch stock ECU's.

So for now, I'll stick with my ancient coal fired ECU, keep stiring the coals up everytime I want to drive it, and just enjoy the car

The ME3.8 is the reason I can get 172.5 bhp on a standard map with a mbc an the other mods I have but soon a map will be done by r tech soon then when bored of that ko3s and more mapping one day I will be following in you footsteps fingers crossed your car inspires me

Very cheap, LOADS of run off in every direction, very popular airfield venue. I've done several events with MSE before and they're well run, Open pitlane all day too, and usually no queuing at all to get on track.

It's funny isn't it, how sometimes you dwell on things?

I keep coming back to this picture:

24 hours before this was taken, we had consigned the car to the scrap yard, and were starting to pull things off it to take home, absolutely positive that it was a total loss.

A brief trip to a friend in Nurburg whilst trying to help someone else out, and I got told to man up and drive it home.

Came back to the car with a hugely different attitude, bodged it back together with duct tape and zip ties, drove it home, and fixed it up.

6 months later, I'm so glad we made that choice

I remember getting seriously out of shape on my last lap before heading to Calais a few years ago. Was a warning and I plodded the rest of the lap

So, they said it would snow. Went to bed wednesday night, and there was sodd all.

Woke up thursday morning, and it turned out they wern't lying after all!

We had a go at doing some work:

But come Thursday night, with the bad forecast coming, everyone was sent home before we got stuck there.

This morning, despite everything suggesting I shouldn't, I decided to go up to Newbury to pick up my new Oil cooler from the DPD depot. Fantastic service from Think Automotive, I only sent my cracked one away at 5pm on Monday and DPD tried to deliver the new one on Wednesday morning!

Will definitely be using Think Automotive again for oil cooler related goodies.

Snow was pretty heavy on the way to Newbury:

Lazy afternoon, then I made a start on these wishbones.

I started by removing the front bushes. I did this by drilling around the bush as much as possible to loosen it and relieve the tension inside the arm:

I then cut off the 'lip' that locates the bush at each end of the arm:

Leaving you with nothing to stop it dropping out:

Then a few swift blows later it's out. Can see how the drilling has helped:

I greased up the new bushes (These are 30mm bushes so will look different to most) and got it all lined up in the vice, then went for it!

On to the rear bushes, into which I will be fitting these SuperPro offset bushes:

I forgot to get pics at this stage, but basically I attacked all around the bush with an 8mm drill bit, and ripped all the rubber out, to leave me with just the metal outer rings of the bushes:

I used a hacksaw blade to cut through the ring and prize it out:

The faces needed some serious cleaning up before the new bushes went in.

How did you find the 30mm wishbones? From a vehicle bein broken?

Cleaned them up for painting yes mate, Will be paint them tomorrow after I've finished clamping them in the vice to fit bushes!

The 30mm front wishbones were the most amazing find to be honest.

After the crash I needed a new front subframe and one new wishbone.

I found a subframe on ebay with wishbones still attached, and bid on it and won without seeing it obviously.

A mate picked it up for me from Derby, and when he brought it down to my delight I found it had 30mm wishbones. Massive result!

Pretty glad I hadn't already ordered the DEFCON inserts I had planned to that week as well!

Finished off the wishbones tonight.

Started off by making the centre of the offset on the bush. Lots of looking at it, marking it, then marking it again. I think I got close enough.

I think marked up the wishbone. It's important to note, that to get the maximum caster increase, the 90 degree offset needs to be along the centre line between the front and rear bushes, so I used a string to mark that:

Second one went into the vice, and was a bit tougher than the first, but I got there:

Although the vice didn't come off so good after this one:

Checking alignment, not that I can do much to alter it at this stage!

AFter this I gave them a coat of black enamel to protect them, which is currently drying.

I've also cleared the snow from around the car, so hopefully I'll fit these, the new oil cooler, and the new 235 tyres tomorrow

Tuffty just pointed out that in the above pics it looks like there's been welding on the arms. There hasn't!!! It's just an unfortunate smear of grease in the pic. I had to look twice at it though, bizzare!
