Jardo's 'Journey to quattro' - My Story...

Jardo I'm picking up a filter Friday. Don't suppose you could post a link to the 86-70 reducer. I can't find one anywhere!

As I have an AGU, to me your car is an inspiration. I'm on a value vs. performance mission and the mods you do fit the bill perfectly.

Don't be disheartened by the acts of this drain on society. You have a cracking car that can embarrass and is probably more fun to drive than metal worth x20 more.

Where's the update Boyo? I know you spent another day rolling around on the floor with Philler, there must be some pics worth uploading, as you sent me about 15 on whatsapp!

Rolling around on the floor with Jardo is now a weekly thing, :)

Thanks Paul, means a lot :) If you have any questions feel free to pm me or ask, and I will get the info from Prawn haha :p

There are some updates but only small.

I re-routed my catch can to better suit the FMIC pipes.

I hard wired in my Road Angel, to make my car like Prawns. And I got Phils kids to clean my interior.

:)

Tidy. Have you plumbed your catch can back into the TIP? Looks like its bypassed? Might be me...

Still plumbed into the TIP for now, have got a bung for it and will plug the tip tonight. Was kind of an after thought yesterday and I forgot the bung haha.

I might have to let Lila clean Ron, with your guidance she has done a very good job, although your car is span kin inside :)

Epic catch can fail there

Lower crank breather is venting into the can, but the rocker cover breather is venting straight back into the TIP dear boy.

Remember what I said: before messing with things, learn and understand the system and where stuff flows and why, then it'll become pretty obvious what you've done wrong.

As you have it in the pics above is very wrong indeed.

lol did not notice that

That's the same way you routed it! The only thing I did was cut down two pipes and replace them with blue!

If I plug the TIP and run the cam cover pipe straight to the can it will be fine anyway?

um not if your can does not have a 3rd pipe? as all you doing is venting the block and head into eachother

Yip, your motor will not breathe if your can is sealed, You could always just add a filter to the top of the can, use the one port for block, and the other for valve cover.

Edit: Or you could link your block and valve cover into one port of the Catch Can and put a filter on the other port.

like so

only thing about having the filter in the engine bay you smell the oil when the car is hot. better to link head and block into 1 then move the breather to the back of the car and block off the tip side ot the hockey puk

I did a bit of a half hearted catch can set up... i blanked off the tip inlet and re routed the pipe that goes to the hockey puck into the catch can. the outlet from the can just vents to the bay... no smell at all and no mess. wierd but it works .

i vented mine with a filter and i could smell it when i stoped at a traffic light now iv moved it to the back of the car no issues

It's not the way I routed it at all mate. You've taken some pipes off and put them back on the wrong way round.

Like I said, understand the system and it'll all make sense.

Prawn is that spare spark plug there just in case

I vented my catch can to atmosphere, fitted a small breather filter and fitted the filter inside the stock air box below the drop in filter.
Plan is to fit it near the cone filter on the BT setup, cold side of the heat shield.

There is no dyno in the land capable of assessing the power this car has, last time I put it on a dyno it just tore the thing out of the ground.

Imagine how it will rip out the tar once you running stage 2

Gizmo's fav line " give me enough traction and ill spin the world faster! "

I am not going to go stage 2, it's over rated. Just going to stick at stage 1 haha

It is just flash photography on nappa leather seats, they are mint.

I already use Glyptone which in my experience is better than anything else on the market. They smell so good haha.

Tbh looks a shed compared to when u had it. It's still gotta be one of the fastest a3's in the world right especially running over 30 psi was it?

I think the old banger needs to turn over and die already.

As a road car, it's knackered.

As a track car, there's still some potential there, but it needs a lot of TLC before it'll be any good again, although the base of decent parts are still there on the whole.

Shame really, used to be a really nice car 4-5 years ago
