Hi,

im looking at getting a remap done at amd essex and wanted some advice on future problems if any.

i have a 105 engine at the moment and according to their website i will get the following gain:

Original bhp : 105
Original lb.ft : 184

BHP increase : +40bhp
Lb.ft gain : +51lb.ft

New BHP: 145
New lb.ft : 235

how will the above affect the clutch and other engine parts, i've read alot about clutch issues and thinking should i get the car remap to a lower bhp such as 135 and 220 lb.ft

other peoples view would be great as im really loss with what to do.

thanks
d

Hi.

Essex does a REVO remap? I'm thinking about the same thing, and I was thinking about going 135 / 220lb.ft too! Because 145/235 seems kinda too much...

What I'd do is to have a good chat with the guys there and go with their advice.

All of the help and advice they've given me over the years has been spot on and obviously they can adjust the mapping to what you want within reason.

I was told by few REVO technicians that going 145ks is OK, that the engine can handle it... I know engine can, but can the clutch? I am a pretty gentle driver, but still...

Hi,

I'm glad others are thinking the same as me. Hopefully we will get a few opinions and we can decide what to do.

BTW I was looking at Sedox and SKN maps and they both are lifting it up to 136ks / 220lb ft, that's why I wanted to go with lower values...

I am fairly sure it will be able to handle 145 bhp, it isn't that much more than 135bhp and if you say you're a gentle driver i'm pretty sure you'll be fine.

hi mate,

i have had a look at sedox and it looks like they raise more the amd....

Power Increase:
+40Hp
Torque Increase:
+65Nm

Bear in mind that its not bhp that will kill a clutch, but torque.

Look at the maximum for that as opposed to power.

Hi mate,

Can you explain what the bhp and torse does?

As in why will one affect the clutch and not the other

D

Hi mate,

It's £550 with dpf removal together.

D

I think I don't have the DPF. Is there a way to check?

And yes, I know that torque is the key to save the clutch, so I was thinking about asking them to raise it to max +50bhp.

Is there any better clutch for 1.9tdi, from some other manufaturer?

Hi mate,

Spoke t a few remap places and they all seem to think the 1.9 can handle way more than this so I'm guessing the torse will be fine.

You can easily tell by looking at your service book, on the front page will be have something like 77kw and other things along with dpf

Thanks
D
