Yes, you need canbus error free ones.
I bought some LED ones from eBay for around £23
Basically a full unit replacement with a SMD chip card inside and resistors built it.
I would contact t8ups given the year mate.
He was really helpful, emailed guides to assist with some bits and even offered phone support. Top bloke and think the number plate lights alone were £7 all in.
a word of warning though, the number plate light screws are so soft I would change them if they come out. I googled it and loads have had issues even to the extent of drilling them out :-(

I've got the can-bus led number plate units. But want to change some of the bulbs on the rear light cluster.

Hi All
Has anybody found any LED bulbs that "FIT" a 20004 A3 and dont put up errors, rears ( bulb type bayonet 245 - 10w 12v ) .
I dont mean the number plate bulbs .
If so post a link .
I have changed three normal lamps in last two weeks ,they dont seem to last long .
