**CRAZY PAINTER's BUILD THREAD**

havent been on here in a fair long while now, have been treading but not posting. Have a 6 week old baby keeping me busy!!!
Anyway, I had a MOT recently and they pointed out the rear exhust is rusting away which will be OK for a while but if it goes thru next year or not, debateable. So I have been back in touch with Style Dynamix in HAyes who fitted a stainless custom exhaust on a previous car which I was blown away by the standard of work so next weekend the A4 is getting stainless treatment as well. Curently my exhaust is a centre pipe with silencer going into two seperate rear pipes with two back boxes. The new set up is a centre pipe running straight through and splitting into two with two back boxes. Pipes wil be same as factory diameter 2 1/4'' I think ?? Tails will be close to OEM look, nothing clever or fancy. This is a Longlife exhaust set up and I beleieve they are franchised but this gang at Hayes are so meticulous and its the same manager as when I was there 5 years ago so I feel very confident of what I am getting. Bring on next weekend !

Is it really 18 months since you last posted?! Wow.

Congratulations on the new arrival!

Hi James, no I have posted other stuff but just not in this thread. I think the last mod i did was tinting headlights. I have replied to other peoples threads but nothing much in mine.

So lets start trying to keep my threads together ! Here are the tinting pics:

I love this car, the lower splitter makes it look so much more aggressive.
May be tempted to do this myself!

Looking great this what did you tint the headlights with excuse me if you've already mentioned

Pete. Lamin X is the main tinting film on the market, used it before on another car and it good stuff. This was much cheaper, just wanted to see how it would look really. Much thinner than lamin x but now its on, the slightly bronze tint is perfect for my car and the look I want to achieve. was a tenner plus post on ebay for 12" x 1 metre so just big enough to do both lights

Found this thread this morning and have to say I am fascinated by some of the things you have done. I have an 04 b6 avant in atlas grey. It has all the stock chrome window trims on which your pics make me want to get rid of. Do you know if they can be painted or replaced? Really like the grills aswell. Congrats on the babs btw. I have 3 so I only get the time to read forums not actually do anything to the car!

amazing car love i love how the colour just explodes with the sunlight
exellent job
i do have to ask what is your front grill is it a s4 one ? or part of the vortex ?

cheers for the comments. Grille is Votex, have replaced the all fixings with security screws to stop opportunists! The aim of the build was to create a monochromatic look, no colour, no chrome. I think there are threads on here somewhere about de'chroming the window surrounds, luckily for me and what I wanted to achieve this didnt have them anyway. The paint on the wheels, mirrors and badges does really pop in the sun but actully, a grey overcast day seems to bring out the best look for this car!

I think you can buy a kit from Audi but seems like a lot of hassle to change them all. I know they can be done in vinyl or there's always good old Plastidip. Have a look on youtube, there's loads of videos on Plastidip and it looks really easy to apply. (I'll let you know soon, going to have a go on my roof bars!)

So, new exhaust fitted. Centre box deleted, so its a straight through system to the two rear sliencers. Sounds really beautiful, superb job by the lads at Style Dynamix in Hayes fitting this Longlife system, full custom stainless with 3.5" tails. Comes with a lifetime guarantee which goes with the life of the car not just the ownership of the car which is pretty unusual. Also unlike some others you dont have to have it checked yearly and a book stamped in order to retain any guarantees. Feels a little more responsive to drive also.

This is how it looked before:

Hi as mentioned just to clear up your upper front grille is it a votex item as im on my second votex kitted car and seen a few about and none have had your upper grille on do you know if I could purchase it from the stealers Ive seen similar on ebay but with no badge so look rubbish and cheap.

SL11, No Videos as yet. And they do pretty much any tips you could want, in rolled, out rolled, double skinned, OEM styles etc etc they will even Custom make the tips, they had a heart shaped profile in a display cabinet and someone rang up whilst I was there who wanted for their Van, one skull and one crossbone!!!

Dale, yeah its complete Votex all round, not sure if you can get the upper grille from audi still, maybe post the question up, ythere are some wise heads on here !

Been sent a few more pics as my camera died whilst the fit was completeed so they took some for me:

Yeah all grilles are Votex on this. The badge from what I have seen is made of two parts, the rings, and second part that the rings sit on, this in turn attaches to the mesh grill, ie the badge is not manufactured as part of the grille,. So i dont know if you bought the ebay version and then attached the two part rings badge how that would look. I am sure someone on here has put the Votex
part numbers up???

I keep coming back to this thread, I love the way your car looks from the front. I've never been too keen on the splitters as I prefer the more rounded look, but your car is definitely changing my opinion. I'm afraid I'm going to have to copy the tinted lights as the rest of my car is already blacked out.

TLDR: Looks sweet, keep up the good work

Lovely car mate credit to you. How did you find the light tinting, thinking of doing mine until I get DRL's. have u got a link to film you bought. Cheers

keep up the good work

This is the film I bought:LIGHT SMOKED headlight tint film vinyl with free instructions! | eBay The tinitng was easy BUT there is only just enough film to do the lights so cut the bought piece exactly in half and check the angle you are going to lay it on at before you go for it. If you get any bubbles use a small pin and pop the the bubble from the side of the bubble, not in the front of the bubble. Not saying you will get any but just in case !

Just trim the splitter ends to the fit you want and the two little upstands in the middle and fit with self tappers.
