jumped in car this aftertoon with wife to go shoping to york and pull off the drive my wife noticed 5" crack in the windscreen so pulled back onto drive to look at just tapped it to see it would spead and it now dose right cross the screen ..good job my wife saw it could of cracked at any moment driving down the road ... so got car booked in on tuesday as it a in house job with it been a cabriolet they wont come out to do it just hope it holds together when i drive it there only spent 150 quid last week on 2 new tyres and now this 75 quid windscreen cover

Thats not good, but at least your wife spotted it.x

least i got a new screen old one was a bit marked ... anyone no if it will be a vag part fitted or will it be a copy ???? auto glass are doing it

Fella it aint going to be a VAG 'Branded' windscreen if thats what you mean.

Not sure it won't be branded, I had my screen replaced on my last B6 saloon and there were audi rings and part codes on it.

Yeah that is an Audi branded product Audi dont make windscreens a windscreen manufacturer does ;-) so it may it may not, ive had mine replaced 2 times not sure what marks its got on it will see tomorrow and let you know what I got....actually I need a new one as Ive got a small crack that is not repairable in it as well, was waiting till I got new insurance as last year the excess was £150 it is £100 now a big difference.

You need to tell them you want it with Audi stamp before you go ther, Some insurance companies will accept it, some wont. On a VW I had, i said I wanted it with the logo on and they were happy to do...........

mines a audi branded from auto glass

Had mine replaced in late November by Auto Windscreens and the fella told me that if the car is over 3 years old the Ins Co.s won't usually pay for OEM glass! I got Pilkingtons, which is good enough quality, so I'm happy.

I don't want to freak you out, but the fit\fitter is probably more of a concern - My wifes car had one fitted (by a different company who shall not be named here, but not Auto Glass) in October, the fella scraped the paint off both A pillars & the roof when he cut it out - the kicker is that he'd made a small note on the invoice "no damage caused by fitter" & stole the mug I gave him a cup of Tea in, cheeky *******!

Also check it's seated properly & not raised as the picture below shows.

To cut a long story relatively short, it cost them a grand to respray at VW & they had to replace the screen twice more because of their poor workmanship. If they make a hash of it, take pictures & complain to your insurance company ...but I'm sure it'll be just dandy. :icon_thumright:

his is a cab so no chance of that happening
when i went to autoglass he made me walk round the car to note any damage
so they cant get away with anything aslong as you recheck b4 you drive away.

when I went to the company's base to show them the damage the next morning, a guy came in with a Cabriolet Mini complaining about the rubber across the top of the A pillar being cut. ;)

i honestly wouldn't expect this level of incompetence from Auto Glass, just a few things to look out for.

thats why i always chean everything b4 i leave any garage even if its my mates
as the day after dont work

Well at least you didn't scrape the side of your own A4 with the work pool car today.

Now I'm ****** off...
