I have a 1.9tdi quattro sport with votex kit on and obviously has sport suspension already on which im pretty happy with but I know it could be better so in the future i would like some new. Now im not sure whether to go for coilovers or fixed height as i like how it pretty much sits now on my 19" rims the only thing is as ive noticed on a few other sports with the votex kit (plus this is my second sport votex kitted car) that they sit higher at the front to the rear. So if im looking for kits and its stating 40mm lower ride height is it 40mm lower than my sport suspension which is lower than standard suspension or not and also what benifit are b5 front spring perches that ive seen mentioned and also I may have been wrongly informed but will front wheel drive suspension fit a quattro as I bought some b5 s4 callipers off a lad who was a member on here and he said hed fitted front wheel drive coilovers on his quattro.

sorry for the esay. THANKS DALE

I believe the Sports suspension is already 20mm lower than standard, so you need to subtract 20mm from the stated lowering height ie. -40mm kit will only drop it 20mm. From what I can gather B5 spring perches lower the car an extra 10mm.

Yeah as the dude above said, the 40mm lowering height on springs is usually from SE height.

As you said, the a4 is higher at the front. I believe they refer to it as reverse rake (maybe that's the Americans calling it that though). The b5 perches help to even this out. The perches are dead easy to fit if you are fitting lowering springs, the old perch just slides off and put the b5 one on. I think that the eibach sportline lowering springs are 50/40mm front and rear, so factor in the reverse rake. My perches cost me about 40 from Stoke audi (official site sponsor).

I just fit 40mm springs to my se avant, with b5 perches. I'd quite like 50 mm but the wife hates the lower car as it is ha!

As for quattro suspension, at a guess I'd say the front is the same between fwd and quattro but the rear is different. However, most kits I've seen seem to be all 4 wheels, so maybe that's why they're fwd or quattro specific. They're engine and saloon/ avant specific too due to the difference in weights.

As mentioned the Sport suspension is lowered from factory so you need to take off around 15mm from any quoted drop.

Let me know if you need any info or prices.

This post here is my request to Stoke audi for the perches;

I got 4 pinch bolts, nuts and washers as well as the perches, just in case. It's recommended to replace the pinch bolts even if they come out without too much grief. Unfortunately for me, mine took 6 hours (just for the two pinch bolts) and a whole load of heat and beating to get them out. We actually ended up using one of the new pinch bolts to try drive the old one out by hammering it through. Anyway...In case you're not aware, have a Google for pinch bolts, they're a serious pain of a job if they're corroded in. Copper slip/ anti seize the new ones and never have the pain of pinch bolts again.

Here's a few pics of my car. It's only been done a week, but think it's probably settled now. The car is filthy, it hasn't been washed in about 3 months, the benefit of dolphin grey. Although in the pics its really obvious how dirty it is comparing it to the clean one ha.
