Hi guys and merry Christmas!

Car is booked in for stage 2 in January and I would like to have a front mount intercooler fitted at the time. I was looking at the forge kit but its expensive although there is a lot in the kit. Has anybody on here got one? Are they good or am I just paying for the branding?

Does anybody know what power they're good for, i`m guessing the fit will be good. Any alternatives people can recommend?

I want to keep the factory look and retain the fogs.

Thanks guys.

The forge kit is fantastic. Easy to install and fits like a glove behind the bumper, giving the car a very oem look. Massively helps mid range power and air flow generally.

Like you said, not cheap, but its a premium product and ready to go out of the box with no modifications necessary. I fluked mine on eBay for £450 with red silicone pipes to match the rest of my hoses...still one of my favourite bargains. Others being the brembo's.

Power wise with the Intercooler?...probably as far as is possible. Other components would fail or be limited first.

And they look the business...

Thanks for your reply mate :) Sounds good. I'm new to the scene coming from Evo ownership so I'm keen to get some more reliable power from the stock block!

Can't believe you found one on eBay! I've convinced myself that will never happen! Ha ha

The AH and wellycooler fmic are better.

Cheaper
Bigger
Support more power

Imo its a waste of ALOT of money.

having said that, it meets jims and many others needs, it obv fits well, and supports around 300hp well.
A wellycooler can be done for 200 quid though, and an AHfabrications for 350ish, and both support 500hp with great results.

Massive FMIC thread in the FAQ's in the stickies... Forge FMIC is fine for stage 1/2 but if chasing larger numbers later on you are better off with the AH v2 or welly cooler...

Have a read of the thread in the stickies though...

Agreed, it very much Depends on application.

I picked up the forge one at a great price, no hassle to install and good results...I was never planning to go beyond 350bhp though.

Who sells the AH V2 and welly cooler?

Many thanks.

AH Fabrications and eBay respectively... this information is in the FMIC thread...

Think i've decided to go for the AH Fabrications V2 intercooler. Thanks for everybody's input :) The car may be running bigger power in the future so I don't think the forge one rated to around 300hp will last me that long. Would like to have this mod done only once. When you go on the AH Fabrications website there is only 1 option for the S3, am I to take it this is the V2?

I'm not handy with cars personally, more of a polisher! Would a normal specialist find this conversion easy or would I be better to speak to an exhaust specialist to do the job? (welding/making hard pipes) Thanks in advance

Call them up to order the V2 (the "cossie core one"). They'll know. Get them to make sure the mounts are on the right way too.

Thanks Sam, when I ask them to make sure the mounts are put on correctly what do I need to say to them? Should the mounts be pointing the opposite way to the pipes? Thanks, bit worrying that its often done wrong!

Yeah, the opposite direction. Check the mammoth thread for details. Lars said he updated the jig so it should be ok but worth checking again.

Thanks for that, I've read the thread a couple of times but I found it that long I started to forget what I'd read and what I hadn't! Ha ha
