Ive been doing some research into the different intake kits for the s3. ive watched some videos on youtube, one of the evoms and one of the forge twintake and i really like the induction noise from both but am not a fan of the blow off/diverter valve/wastegate noise, (which ever of these it may be)

My question is; is there anyway of reducing this blow off noise? by changing the valve or by any other means?

thanks in advance for your help.

Hi jk just keep the revised d value and dont fit the forge blow off value and you will be fine :)

Most turbo cars are fitted with a recirculating dump valve as standard, which I'm guessing is the 'revised d valve' s3kel mentions above. Keeping it that way will keep it quiet.

Turbo produces additional pressure over and above atmospheric pressure to enable more air to be forced into the engine - more oxygen - more power. When the throttle plate closes the extra pressure has nowhere to go and can then backup through the turbo, stalling it so it's not up to speed when you engage the accelerator again. Over time it can also add strain onto the veins of the compressor wheel shortening its life. However, the dump valve allows the additional pressure to be vented off so the turbo stays spinning and is bang on it when you put your foot down again.

A recirc valve puts that vented air back into the intake pipework, which 'contains' the whoosh noise. Aftermarket valves like to vent to atmosphere and tend to do so through various designs of trumpets and aparatus to increase and alter the sound created.

In basic terms, keep your recirculating dump valve and there'll be no additional noise :sly:

I thought the revised version D made a similar noise as the forged one?

Hi mate , totally different value as the forge one ,sits on top of the oem value , just keep it as it meant to be and you will be fine..
