Prawn and BigAls A3 Track Car

I use second at some point on most tracks. And it'd make pulling away very difficult :p

To be honest i don't think it'll be an issue with this, especially after I've adapted it further :)

Meh, you gots all teh torques, will be fineee haha

I was thinking something that could be easily engaged once on the move. Was just an idea i remembered from a thread on another forum. I do like the sound of more adaptions though.

Think about Rockingham, 2nd gear for half of the changes.

Have you been on the wine again BBD  that makes no sense.

Second gear used at rocky yes. First hairpin, Tarzan hairpin, and last chicane.

Woth the new map and rods though, we may well find it'll pull in 3rd from much lower down due to the hugely increased torque :)

Muchos torque ftw! There's only one way to find out :racer:

Off topic, I was watching a vid from NigeP over on CGTI earlier from when he was at Rockingham 17th March and immediately spotted, i think it was yours, the A3 go flying past lol, Looked like it was going very well

The Pinder wagon! I LOVE that golf. It's amazing :)Bash up all link to the vid if you can mate, not sure I've seen it. Should be a me to tell you whether it's me or Dad driving from the clip :)

Up until ~2min mark then you just drive away lol. Love his car and all the effort he has put into it aswell, the aero mods especially.

What about the second course later in the day.

I'm not referring to using second for any length of time, just short bursts for tight bends.:friends:

That's me driving. The first time and Rockingham and the first time in the uprated car. I was having a ball. The car was on low boost and going like a rocket. It was suggested by some snotty nosed little co driver that I slow down and let Nige overtake so that I could observe his lines. :sadlike: :crying: .

I think Nige uses some form of Race-Chrono with a P-box Bill, I'll find out for you. I don't know what outputs your DTA has, but harrys lap timer for the iphone 4 onwards also has OBD inputs available to do the same thing!

As above, BigAl driving in that clip lewis, on low boost which was around ~270bhp / 220lbft at the time.

I love the bit later on where I suggest to Dad he lets Nige past just after Pif-Paf to watch his lines, you see dad indicate, Nige draws up close, then Dad just flaws it and fecks off again still indicating Nige to pass. I don't think Dads quite got the hang of letting people past yet.

Must pay more attention in briefings Big Bad Dad

Or just use High boost and rinse them all :racer:

You are so kind to me???. I'm to old to change. "Nill asbestos carborundum"

You seem to be pretty fast still for an old ******, so we'll let you off :racer:

There can't be too many people eligible for free a bus pass that can say they have lapped the Nordschleife in 9 minutes in a 200bhp wrong wheel drive hatch back!!!

:blackrs4: :racer::respekt:

As I said, you are very kind to me. Don't forget it was raining and on semi slicks. (Just thought i'd put that one in for good measure.:scared2:

I didn't know it was raining until you told me at Brunnchen, i thought is was perspiration on the inside of the windscreen.:wtf: :superman: :whistle2:

Nick,

whilst doing a bit of research tonight stumbled across this on the cr turbo eBay page

360 Thrust Bearing | eBay

seems they only sell there uprated bearing kits with the uprated washer and not the collar, like yours was! Not a one off then!

***....
it will be interesting to see how the lupo's has worn when it comes of for spec change

what's changing on the lupos turbo spec Bill? ko4 hotside and a relentless at last?

Very interesting news Dan, clearly you were too kind in your initial estimation, and they are just useless rather than negligent!

I'm fed up.

it's SO FECKING COLD. i can't feel my hands at all, I've been outside since 7:30 in the rain and snow, struggling to see anything through my dumpy level because it's iced up, it's just taken me 5 minutes to get my van keys out of my saturated coat pocket, and another 3 minutes to get the ******* door open using two hands.

What a crock of ****e.

Booked friday off work, as frankly, I can't be bothered with this cold. Picking up new wheels from Ben tomorrow night, and booked an MOT for friday, at which point we'll fit the some nice new tyres too :)

Got a set of Pirelli P-zero Corsas to go onto the TT comp wheels I've bought from Ben:

I've used these before, and found them to be awesome, both in the dry, and more surprisingly in the wet too when you can get some heat into them!

Previously we've run the car on 'normal' road tyres a lot of the time, Pirelli Asymetricos most recently, but with the power now, and the miserable british weather, it just seems a bit pointless, so I'll be running the Corsas for road and track for the next few months :)

yea, full fat K04 but something different also ;)
all will be revealed if it makes a difference..

I'm satisfied I have created the ultimate K03 hybrid with what has been done on the lupo. 332bhp seems reasonable to me.
Now onto K04, relentless, and turbo spec evolution again.... might not work, but then again it might. we shall see
The hybrid k04 crown will return to badger 5 in due course :)

Heck, this puts us under 10 spare sets of tyres. Better get on ebay and replenish.:noway:

These pirreli's were very very good. They were amongst the first we used on the ring and really we did not appreciate until later how good they were. We had them second hand with not much tread on them, but they kept on going and going. Incredible tyre.

In that case, I definitely can't trust you to make me an inlet manifold, as it'd jeopardise your chances of regaining said crown, so you'd probably sabotage the inlet and add flow restrictions somewhere that can't be seen

Fingers crossed they have the same life the last set did!

yes! that last set were bought by Dan second hand, he used them for 2 ring trips and a few trackdays, I used them for one ring trip and 4 trackdays, and a load of road miles, and now they've been sold on again and they STILL have a few trackdays in them! Simple amazing.

These pirreli's were very very good. They were amongst the first we used on the ring and really we did not appreciate until later how good they were.

Yup, they were our first track tyres ever on the car, and being so old, we assumed they wouldn't have been so great, and kept thinking ''how much better will it be on new tyres!?''

Truth is, looking back, nothing else we've used has been any better, the Federals wern't as good, and the A048's were on a par, but I don't think anything has been better than these Corsas.

Very happy to have a set going on it again for normal use :) Drive to the track, abuse all day long, drive home again, rain or shine. Ultimate tyre.

I fear many more CR units could be destined for the same fate as mine was heading to if this is what they're using in all turbos.

Will be good to see how the new BeachBuggy built incarnation stands up to track use next year. I have faith that it'll do we'll :)

lots to do this weekend! Mot and tyres tomorrow, then maybe some more work in the afternoon, then I've still got discs and pads to fit all round, and a caliper refurb, and I also have these orange beasties to fit:

D0BA52EF-EE51-49C5-8F38-46F450D289FA-2877-00000264634F26C8.jpg

more info on them later :)

What do those cost? Iv been think about doing those for over a month now, its a pitty my coils did not come with them!

Like I said on Facebook, a bit harsh they copied the Ground Control design. I thought, after all that hoo-ha with the SFS tip, you'd only get the "genuine" item! ;)

Edit: Hard to see in the photo but do they have an additional bearing on the spring pan? You're asking a lot of the rose joint otherwise. Ground Control revised their design to add this in later. Depends if they copied the early or later design I guess.

That's really not a bad price the D2 ones here are like 240 pounds!

I'll never have anything D2 from what I've heard, I ordered a set of coilovers on a group buy for my Clio RS and sold them to a friend of mine brand new and boxed when I decided I was selling my car. He paid to have them fitted and 6 weeks later they started knocking, D2 wouldn't warrant him because they said they were incorrectly installed and then the units got "lost" in the post on the way back.

Another friend (although an internet friend) has a set on his M3 race car, says they're **** and he's only had them on for half a season and he's changing.

:(

O wow ok never heard that before!!!! Iv used JOMs on my jetta VR6 and my A3 and have no issues with them, they are a cheap so I don't expect magic but for half the price of the other coils I'm happy with them! But thanks for the heads up on the D2 stuff dude

Hard and bouncy as fck and blow then blow the seals. Even on the lowest damper setting they`re still bone crunching. People just like them because they go lower than your grans nips.

Lmao!!!!!! The JOMs go pretty damn low to, iv got another 20 to 30mm left on the front to go down and the sump plate is 55mm off the ground and its comfy, I can still put 4 peeps in the car and sound and no issues

.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one Sam, Bill came up with something revolutionary and new with the full 3" TIP for the k04, SFS realised it was a good idea and jumped on the bandwagon (or badgerwagon as it were)

eccentric sliding top mounts are nothing even remotely new, and ground control certainly weren't the first people to offer them. The concept of a pillow ball mount in a slotted plate is pretty much universal across all makes, and surely the only way to fit that onto a standard turret is to replicate the rubber come in alloy? Just seems like common sense to me, not copying.

Silver- project have been making mounts like these for ages, including very similar ones for the mk2/Ibiza chassis, it's just only recently they have adapted it for the mk4.

Will do a full write up and mini review when I fit them this weekend.
