The wait is finally over! Ordered on 15 August and it arrived this morning with 10 miles on the clock. The car is simply beautiful and I can't wait to go out for a drive! I've taken a couple of pictures but as I should be working, this is all your getting for the moment. Any requests just let me know.

The only downside is they forgot to include the cable to allow me to plug in my ipod, but having spoken to Manchester Audi it is in the post for me today!

Every time i see pics i know ive made the right car choice. Congrats
Btw Suzanne did you go for the Tech Pack? , its the only thing im slightly worried about - But i dont know why

I've ordered the same engine but in the SB, I was wondering if you could give a bit of an idea on the economy and oomph of it as I've not driven one yet:-(
Very jealous tho:-( enjoy it before it gets covered in white stuff, lol.

I've taken it for a very short drive tonight but will have a proper one tomorrow. It feels sluggish when compared to the 61 plate 1.6 TDI I had, however it is geared differently so it will take me a while to get used to it and make the most of it. The heated seats are the stuff of dreams. Can't wait until tomorrow when I'll take some better photos, figure out all the gadgets and go for a decent first drive!

The engine will feel tight and sluggish to start with until you get some miles on it and it loosens up :)

I'm loving front of the new A3 just looks sharper than the previous model, car looks awesome. Good luck driving her :)

as well as that vertigo , does the audi drive select affect accelerator responce depending what setting you have it on?

Suzanne , what setting did you have it on?

Mark.

There's a button on the dash for Drive Select :)

I know what you mean though - the level of tech in these things is amazing!

Forget the tech, i thought id broke the arm rest today!!! didn't realise it was meant to slide out lol

Looks great. Let us know what you think of the performance once you've put it in Dynamic mode. My wife has ordered the exact same car (in white), so I'm curious!!

The 1.4 demo car we had felt really alive in Sport mode - in any other mode it felt quite sluggish also.

I remember having a similar "arm rest" incident in my VW Eos. I put my hand against it to slide myself up the seat and when the thing flew forward I thought i'd broken it!

It slides out?!

So I've figured out a few more things including setting the wing mirrors to fold automatically and I've set the user assigned button (*) as 'forward' for media. I've found drive select but kept it on Auto to begin with. Annoyingly the AMI MMI cable hasn't arrived this morning so I can't try out the ipod. Will have to cope with just radio and CD for a few days. Next is to tackle DIS via the steering wheel. Will also attempt to learn about the bluetooth phone having now managed to pair it.

Are you able to get any rear pics? As its a 1.6 just wondering what it looks like with the single tail pipe

I've just put the car in the garage so I'll take a picture for you tomorrow! I think it gets away with the single pipe imho.

I ended up having to go out again tonight and I take what I said about it being slugish back! The car is instantly easy to drive and responsive. I absolutely love the power assisted steering. I'm still on auto so will try out the other modes when I get the chance. The suspension is wonderfully firm although I previously had a standard set up which I realise now was bouncy and awful so when compared this is a dream. This car is fantastic, I'm very happy so far!

My onboard computer appears to be reporting in KM though!

I did wonder whether they'd give the 2.0TDI a single pipe too, as the 140PS engine only has a single and the 150PS is effectively the replacement for that. Only the 170PS on the old model got the twin pipes, and the replacement for that will come later so wondered if they'd keep the twin pipes only for that but apparently not.

Inserted from the catalog, I have ordered the 2.0 TDI S-line twin pipes.
Exhaust tailpipe – single tailpipe on 1.6TDI,
double tailpipes on the left on all other engines

the good thing is you can configure the car to your own taste. If you want the engine to be in Dynamic mode, but you want lighter (comfort) steering, you can configure that via the MMI.

How are you finding the fuel economy now? Had mine for just over a month now and love the car- just a little disappointed in 54mpg compared to the quoted 74. Pic was mine in the showroom ready to go out

That's excellent on such a short run! I have got up to 62 / 63 on the odd journey, but could have got that from my old 2 litre A3 (8P) which had over 160K on the clock. Just feel that 62 is a long way off even the combined figure Audi quote (74). Gonna wait until I've 10,000 covered before I do anything rash.

early days really as you say, but the numbers are heading in the right direction. !!

oh and that was the last bit of a 40mile journey :)

.

I'm still really disappointed. First few tanks have given me 50mpg which is shockingly low. I managed 61mpg on a single journey which covered local roads at low speeds. After having a 61 plate A3 1.6 TDI which regularly did 65mpg on motorways as well as short drives without trying too hard. I really hope things improve. It seems to be getting slightly better after 1800 miles.
