Hi all just a wee quick and easy question for you, is the s3 rear arches bigger than the normal a3??? Thanks

They are hmmmm just was thinking of making the mrs 1.6 a s3 replica suppose could do the rest and leave the rear arches would the back bumper still line up and anybody know how much it would ruffly cost for all the bits and bobs to make it a replica excluding interior and painting it all thanks guys

cost = alot

bumpers are wider to accomodate the arches.
imo s3 bumpers on a3's look very odd, and dont go with the car.
A3 bumpers look much better, i dont think they look bad at all, esp colour coded

At a quick glance I was thinking about 500 obvisly I would change the front wings etc etc so surly it would look pretty ok then??

What dose not fit with the rest of the car surly if a get bumper, wings, bonnet? Side skirts, rear bumper and spoiler the only thing that is not the same as the s3 is the rear arches so it should be a pretty good replica

So just found this thread and I see what you mean http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-forum-8l-chassis/87597-rear-arch-flaring.html so depending if the mrs wanted to keep it a while I could get the arches rolled or get 2 back quarters or try source replace arches I am more a fan of 2 rear arches tho and I do know a good panel beater and there is a small spot of rust on the rear quarter so i could sort of justifi changing the arches and my painter said he would paint my mondeo for 900 so I can get it painted with a good price so the question is could I do It on a budget between 1000-1500 and is it worth it personal I would say its only worth it if she was keeping it few year so kinda just answered my own question there lol

Sell the Mondeo and the A3. Get an s3.
Sell the a3 and get an s3
Stick bumpers, wings etc on the a3.
Don't stick bumpers, wings etc on the a3.

They are the best range of choices. I'd go with number 4.

Need both cars and don't need a fast car got the wee man so trying to be grown up we got rid of a 205 turbo before he came because it was impractical and we like the look of the s3 so why not make a replica my brother has e36 m3 replica looks good and my brother in law has a mk5 golf tdi r32 replica both look spot onto I don't see the problem with making replica cars for the cosmetics of them

Different tho changing mr2 or whatever it is to a 430 is a complete change where as a a3 and s3 are pretty much the same base

I know but I just don't see people problems with replicas if they like the look and style but don't want to pay the price and insurance and running cost of the real thing

Just DO IT Den13, you don't need any reason to justify what you want to do, it's our own car ***! This is an open forum, and everyone is entitled to their opinion! Me personally, I'd use a 1.9TDI as a base car, why the 1.6? It's a dog of an engine!!

I drove a replica mk2 GTI and E36 M3 in my younger years, when insurance was EXPENSIVE!

Good luck.
