So, hi!

Love the forum so far, there seems to be an incredibly vast amount of knowledge on here. An amazing resource.

Any how, my names Chris and I've owned my A3 1.8T AGU for a couple of years now always with the intention of doing a few bits and bobs to it, but never getting round to it. I quite my job in the motor trade as a Mercedes Technician a few years ago to go to Uni so haven't been able to even consider any mods due to my obvious lack of finance. But now, unfortunately I'm back in the trade although it does allow me the chance to make my A3 f***ing quick!

So, hopefully as of next week I'll be ordering a K03s and bit by bit collating supporting mods. I'll definitely start a proper build thread when things start and hopefully become a consistently contributing member of the forum.

Ps. Congratulations on Prawns incredible RR figures. Truly insane.

Chris. x

Hi,and good luck with the build, yes prawns build is his life story within quite a few page's (good build).
: )

Welcome chris.
I'm sure everyone who can help you will. Be sure to take some inspiration from builds on here, there are some really impressive and detailed builds on here.

What was your degree if you don't mind me asking? If you're a technician then all this should be a piece of cake for you.

Looking forward to this Chris. Not sure bout x at end of name pal :D

To have joined the forum at the stage when his project has just come to fruition seems a shame, but it was a genuinely epic read despite that. I could't imagine how insane that sort of power through the front wheels would be. I had Fiat Coupe 20vt a few years back running about 250bhp and that was difficult to say the least!

I was studying mechanical engineering, but unfortunately the math just became too much for me to handle so am currently weighing up my options. Going back to the trade for a bit and see what happens!!

With respect to being a tech, it makes things worse!! After a 40 hour week working on other people's cars the last thing you want to do is work on your own!

I've just done a bit of an overhaul on my A3; Cam belt, BIG service blah blah blah...After 3 years off the tools it was kind of fun, until things started to go wrong and the wallet had to come out (mainly to get the oil off of my Dad's newly paved front drive! lol).

But, I still can't contain my excitement of the day that I have my K03s fitted and take it R-Tech!! YEAH!!

My dad works for renault/nissan, so I know from him what you mean. I struggle to get his help with some of the bigger jobs because after 30 yrs he hates it. Although the tuning aspect and me buying shiny new things gets his interest, so I'm sure you'l be happy when you realise your cars potential.

Any pics of your car? Has it been standard for 2 years?

Pretty much standard mate. It's currently just got a bog standard K&N on it and a de-cat pipe.

I did fit a FMIC to it last year with the intention of getting it remapped to "240BHP" with the standard K03 on it but after a little research realised that the guy that was about to remap my car was totally full of s**t!

The FMIC was a rubbish fleabay job and it just looked atrocious so I removed it after realising that I can get completely respectable power figures with the stock intercooler.

I want the car to look as standard as possible TBH. Aesthetically it'll probably stay fairly stock, just some nice Rs4 18s and some coil overs.

I'll be happy with 220BHP TBH. Anymore then that I'll just get a loan and buy an S3!!

Welcome to Asn Chris, I'm sure you'll find everythin you need here, there's a pretty wide range of cars on the forum from the insanely well presented (liquids3) to the downright insane (bills Ibiza), oddly, many of the maddest builds seem to be yellow cars. Perhaps that's where I e gone wrong!

youd be amazed, but it's all in the mapping. Old school mappig producing big torque spikes and dodgy delivery could result in a car being a real handful, despite the head line figures not being huge. My ko3s at 25psi was much of a handful at 290lbft than my hybrid was at 260lbft, despite the hybrid being MILES faster, it was much easier to drive :)

tell me about it!!! I fancied mech eng, it the maths was too much for me so I ended Up doing civils and here I am several years later as an engineer.

You can't go wrong with having Niki map an agu, there is no man in the land who can do it better.
