Tax price difference on different bhp models?

Is this right? As i was just wondering why my s3 225bhp tax is £145ish for 6 months, yet my pals 210bhp model is £128ish i think.

i want cheap tax too

Tax rules changed late 2001 iirc. Pre 2001 there's only 2 categories for cars, below 1400cc engines and over 1400cc engines. 2001 on its based on exhaust emissions.

yes this is correct, think the tax rules change around April 2001 and my car is registered April 2001. So whilst Karl with a 210bhp AMK pays £220 per year I, also with a 210bhp AMK, pay ~£270 a year

My 07 RS4 tax will be £475, but RS4s registered before 23 March 2006 are only £270. How's that for a kick in the stones?

What we are saying is, prefacelift and early AMK S3's are worth more because they cost £50 less to tax a year!

My 260 costs £220 to tax btw.

Mind you, in the grand scheme of things (insurance/tyres/fuel/copious spares!) it's small beer...

Pre facelift has many advantages, lower tax, no ESP, bolt down coil packs, better interior, remaps the same as the later facelift, the only thing not quite as good are the 2 piece lights

Prefacelfit all the way. My apy is miles better than my mates amk facelfit, for a start my cars nearly 2 years older and my interior is immaculate, not one mark, his on the other hand is a joke, his heater/light controls are now white lol.
