Another 8L Track Car - Lets get ready to 'Ruuuuuuuumble'!

if you've removed the aircon condenser welly, you can trim the slam panel back to set the IC back another inch or so if you so desire to keep it all inside the bumper.

Imagine this:

Massive front mount + Saturday night drinkies + Hacksaw and disc cutter + Front bumper.

Anyone remember the exhaust manifold 'flow testing'?

Making this cooler fit will make me happy.

Wellycooler V2 has landed.

It's heavy is my first assessment.

Also looks like it's been tig welded by a ******... :-/

However should do the job - if I can get it to fit.

Would be good to get a side by side shot with a V1. I like the way you're tm the Wellycooler V2!

It'll be fine. I will just need to butcher the front to get it in basically.

Was supposed time be going paintballing tomorrow but much to my disappointment that now shelved. However it does give me some time to bolt the lump back together.

What I now need to concentrate on is making a turbo support bracket. No way am I leaving that thing unsupported. It's huge!!

good work welly im watching this to see how the overseas stuff last as im doing this build next year ....

Havnt really been on here for a while, loving your build threads, Heres a couple pictures of my cooler after Xmas i will be stripping the car out and track prepping it so i may have to attack the front bumper a little bit :)

Popped up to the car over the weekend and got the existing downpipe and cat out to make a bit more room for mocking up.

On a side note - the K03 downpipe sucks. What an epic load of rubbish. Massive great flange - tiny little hole (insert jokes here).

Anyway, droppd the down pipe out - had to cut off the rusted o hell Audi exhaust sleeve to get it out.

Then popped the pistons and the rods in - always nice to fill and empty block...

Need to aquire an oil pickup pipe to bolt back o the oil pump and then we're looking good.

All the rebuild gear has now arrived so getting there me thinks.

What no photos of the monster cooler fitted? Slacker

Keep it up mate cant wait to see what its like

I've found a nice cheap performance xhaust system for an A3 1.9 TDI which I shall be buying. Total is £165 ish delivered for a full cat back.

It's not going to be much good - but it'll do just to get it going.

OK, pistons are all in, bolted to the crank and spinning nicely.

I did notice some slight damage to the journal on cylinder 1 which is annoying. However budget constraints mean that it is ****** well staying like that. It wasn't too bad and didn't pick up when I ran my nail across it so fingers crossed.

Rods are a very good fit, credit where it's due. If people have qualms about buying cheapo rods from China, then fitment shouldn't be one of them.

Of course the proof of the pudding is in the eating - and how well they hold up to the abuse is the key.

Fitted the manifold to the head properly, not planning to remove again now - and have bolted the turbo up to it also. I was going to do a test fit, but to be fair I was too cold and wet to be *****.

I will get the head on at the weekend and get some snaps of what it looks like, and how much clearance there isn't...

dude, have you thought about an ebay turbo back system like mine? £220 shipped for a full 3'' turbo back (which is going to help over a 2.5'' system at the power you're looking at), which could then be adapted quite simply to link up to your turbo with just a 90 degree bend and a few flanges in theory?

I have mate, yes, but couldn't find anything suitable on the bay. Any links?

Adding to the above, it won't make that much difference power wise. A 2.5" system will be sufficient to b honest, Bumble's cat back was only 2.75" and never proved a choke point at well past the horsepower levels I am looking to achieve.

However a 3" system sounds good to me, especially at that price...

it will make it loud
very loud

we like loud

It really won't superK. you'd be amazed.

Having seen your car on idle and going around Combe, mine with 350bhp being forced through the full 3'' system is much quieter than your exhaust was at ADI last year!

Now have no more money until after Xmas.

Just ordered a 180 mandrel 76mm, a uber tight 90 76 mandrel, a 6" 76mm flexi, lambda boss, T3 turbo downpipe flange, a metre of 76mm stainless and a turbo oil return flange with hose tail.

That, with all the other bits and bobs should now keep me going until after xmas anyway to be fair.

That's pretty much it now engine wise. Need FMIC pipework, screamer pipework, VR6 MAF tube, Injectors, TIP and filter. Once all those sorted, which is give or take another £250 she should be running hopefully.

weird how that works really. prob to do with flow, and gas speed.

odd isn't it? I don't really understand why, but my full 3'' system is no louder than my previous non res 2.5'' miltek, and the boxes arn't very big at all either!

No, you can't leave it until after Xmas I'll have nothing good left to read on the Internet! Get it finished.... :-D

Welly, would be a good idea to buy an extra lambda boss, so you will have an extra bung for a wideband gauge at some point, and mount it next to the lambda sensor. Gauge will see exactly what ecu sees then. That's how I am doing mine:icon_thumright:
