Afternoon guys :)

As most of you will/might/probably won't know, I've got a standard MY10 BE S3. Had it for a month or 2 nearly now and I love it, fantastic car and I couldn't be happier with it.

Well, I could, maybe.

I'm currently wrestling with myself over resisting a remap, mostly down to the fact I think Aviva would have kittens when I told them. But, every time I drive it I'm left wishing the exhaust sounded a little meaner. Its not a volume issue as such - for example I'd love it if it had some decent burble on overrun. I know you DSG boys get a pop on change to, and if I change quick I can faintly hear something similar, but I want that to be more noticeable too.

Any ideas? Am I looking at a complete system to satisfy this rather odd craving?

Cheers all!

I feel a Milltek moment coming on.....

exactly how i feel at the moment little bit louder then it will be happy days :yahoo: miltek or supersprint
remap should be done in fact it must be done you will lose if you wrestle with remap

Resonated Milltek - no louder than OEM when cruising on motorways, deeper growl when giving it the beans, a few burps on overrun and the odd pop & bang once you learn how!

Perfect gentleman on easy driving and a real beast when you put your foot down!

I really want to buy a Supersprint exhaust but cant decide yet whether to go res or no res. I hate when car is too loud and sometimes I do long runs so pleasant environment is a must for me:]. Out of interest did you fit full TBE or just the back box? Thanks!

Do it you wont regret it!

Hummm, looks like it'll have to be an exhaust change! Resonated Miltek or SS might be a good shout, worried the nonres would be too loud. I'd like to hear some in person though.

Welcome to listen to my non-res miltek if your ever near Worcester/Malvern.

why don't you go for non-res one, try it, and if it's too loud then get the resonated piece fit it, sell non-res one?
i guess you'll hook up on the sound, and you'll forget about the resonated one :D

when i bought mine i ordered non-res milltek tbe, and by mistake got resonated one. got it on a car for a while, sounded pretty much like oem cruising on lower revs but a bit louder on wot. then i swapped resonated part for non-res and it's still pretty much the same cruising on lower revs but it's epic on wot :D

If its just a matter of swapping 1 part then I will try the non res version first and then if I'm not happy buy and fit resonated section. Problem solved:D

I would love an exhaust that was quiet during cruising but gave a great sound under acceleration and (with mine being the s-tronic) that awesome pop and flutter during the gear change. Any recommendations?

Would like to see one in action - any youtube vids of an s-tronic? Have searched high and wide.

Fitted a full mIlltek on mine including large bore down pipe now sounds awsome. Do it mate and keep old one if you need to go back to standard

Thanks yes I presume it should be ok to do the same with supersprint will get cat back fist and then DP early next year or other way around cant decide but if were to fit DP fist I would have gone stage 2 too:eyebrows:. I want to stick to 70mm piping and this back box. Just to ask is there a much difference between 100 and 200cell cat?

Or me in Wakefield

This topic is dangerous! Very tempted s3kel but I'd need to hear some first. There's a midlands meet soon so I may well go along and have a look, hopefully a few different S3's will be in attendance.

Where and when is there a meeting in the midlands mate. I would like meet other s3 nutters:yahoo:

Don't like the look of the tailpipe on the Milltek, but the supersprint
looks good. Milltek looks like it's trying too hard, I think I'd rather replace
the centre section of the OE pipe with a straight through section if it can be done..

Thats why I could not decided which one I want Supersprint is a great looking exhaust and high quality in terms of parts/weldings and the 90x70 back box looks simply fantastic but the price:asskicking:. Milltek is somewhat good for the money especially second hand full TBE can be bought for less than 700-750 which is a great value.

You'd think they'd copy the oval pipes of the OE exhaust,
it's such a subtle little pointer to which variant of A3 you have.
That's kind of why I'd rather butcher the OE pipe.
On a side note, how do you get these little pops and bangs?

Or is that only with an aftermarket unit?

I presume its only when aftermarket exhaust is fitted
