What did you and your 8p do today? :)

I swapped my Speedlines for the stock S3 alloys so the car is finally ready to be sold. Was getting a bit cold to wash it though, that'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Fixed the speedo on one and played about with the wiring for the new BT unit on the other. No washing today. Brrrrrrr it's chilly!!

I removed the two front door cards and installed brand new Jl audio mids and then removed the side of window and replaced the tweeters.

I reckon the original mids gave more bass then these new ones but hey all done now

D

Standard speakers tend to be bassier but bet the JLs are a lot smoother and natural sounding. Give them a bit of time to loosen up too. They'll sound better once they have.

I think a lot of people are mistaking the cheaper JL Audio for the more refined JBL! The difference between the two's products are night & day! the latter having decades more expertise in R+D and execution.

Gave her a full valet and detailed the body work....also removed all wheels and detailed wheels and brakes. God I need to get a life:drool:

JL Audio gear is amongst the highest regarded in car audio. JBL in comparison are a budget brand offering bang for buck. Don't forget the purpose of mid bass in a component setup is to create the mid range. Subs are for bass. And you will probably find the key to a good system is installation and power matching. Run them off an amp installed in some solid mdf pods and even the most basic JL comps will sound wonderful.

With respect, You have that backwards! JL Audio has benefited from user hype for years! They are cheap components, cheaply manufactured & talked up by boy racers to the point that they're now regarded as good by those that know little about Hi-Fidelity, High Quality audio components. These days, how much noise a system makes seems to be more important than the actual output quality.

JBL are the I.C.E subsidiary of Harman Kardon! Altec Lansing, the L in JBL, sell high quality iPod docks and the like! They've been in the business for 65+ years, and know their stuff. JL Audio started up with a similar name in order to piggy-back on JBL's reputation for quality, until finally you have the tail wagging the dog.

Personally, I'd prefer 50W Pure Class A, over 200W RMS, over 1000W PMPO ..but that's just me, and you have a right to voice your opinion no matter how much I disagree with it. :hi:

@deek: If you prefer quality over noise, dispose of the JL's - they will not improve.

Is that why JL audio stuff is much MUCH more expensive than JBL stuff? Can't see a superior brand selling for less than another personally....

It's like a Kia selling for twice as much as an Audi, it just doesn't happen!

I had JL Audio comps in my old C2 VTS and I can certainly vouch for their quality.

let's not compare your ears to my ears, or your wallet to my wallet, post some signal > noise ratio's & I'm confident the JBL's will prove better. :)

Quality? in a Citroen C2? :haha:

What's the type of car got to do with sound quality!?

And before you say the quality of the doors, I had a fair bit of soundproofing put in them so there was next to no vibration or rattle.

Small PSA's don't lend themselves very well to quality audio! I know because I had a Peugeot with an upgraded system, and no matter which rattle I cured over here, another appeared over there ...they're s***e.

That's not a Citroen C2 then is it lol......

Look I aint going to get all scientific about who is better, just don't understand how a supposedly inferior brand can be multiple times more expensive.

But scientific is the only way to prove the point ..never mind anyway, I'm sure it's not going to matter in the greater scheme of things.

Drove to work, wanted to run over lots of cyclists on the way but refrained from doing so as it's not 'PC'.

Parked in the NCP down the road - changed the Air Duct....yay! :)

Soon I will drive Audrina home through the congested streets of central london to leafier western suburbs.:sex:

Drove to work, very almost took out a pedestrian who decided that he didn't need to look both ways before stepping out.

Imagine all that red on my IBIS S3. Would be interesting to see it with chunks of meat and fresh blood over it. meh thinking out loud now.

so spent most of the day drinking hot chocolate and generally avoiding work related stuff.

Ill casually drive home this evening as fast as I can getting angry with idiots who cannot decide whether the 4 mile gap is big enough to pull out into.

HATE RUSH HOUR

Not today but earlier this week I got my AP coilovers fitted, new wheels fitted and new brake pads all around .

Don't worry, I'll be doing the same in about 40 mins!

Any work in the london bridge area and drive to work? I don't see many A3's around here :( But when I do I always wave :) lolz:racer::superman:

Forgot to mention that I wheel span the whole of second gear this morning with these new conti 5's. Never been able to do this before, put it down to them being new, Neverthless, made me smile with the Milly poppin and bangin behind me. :)

Gave mine a much needed clean! Only for it to decide to start to rain 20 minutes after waxing :(

Replaced the leaking rear window wiper as it was leaking peetty badly. Next is the lock mechanism, when it finally arrives!

Sorry about the crap iPhone photo

Gave my car a clean with my new snow foam kit from juicy detailing. Don't know why I haven't got the stuff before, works great and very fun to use :)

Sat behind a 59 plate white nissan GTR today, and that's where I stayed.....wasnt even gonna try and get by...new my pants would be pulled down so I just acted 'cool' and uninterested ;)

just drove 400 miles to aberdeen, most boring drive ever (37mpg :sob:), spotted some nice motors on route though

tell me about it mate, i did it couple of months ago swore I wouldn't do it again but...ah well ten times better than public transport ha

changed the all black fog light trims to newer sport ones with chrome

Sat behind a low loader HGV with a digger on it on the way home. Really wanted to overtake but I was scared something would break.

Finally had time to get new tyres fitted. Goodyear eagle F1s, so nice compared with the Falken 452s, which to be frank were crap! Never felt such a big change with tyres before, quieter, more steering feel & I can pull out in the wet without comedy wheel spin :icon_thumright:

Sold the A3 today as I just wasn't getting on with it. On the plus side I made £200 profit on what it owed me so it can't be all that bad.

Gave windows a right good going over and applied rain repellent.
Still need to give car a proper wash though :(
