it depends on your cancellation policy - speak to the insurer. If everyone had to pay the remaining insurance for the year after cancelling then no one would bother as they'd be out of pocket. your insurer will most probably just bill you for the month or calculate the unused amount to pay you back anything owed, and/or have a cancellation charge. the cancellation charge varies from insurer to insurer. my company has no cancellation charge and if i were to cancel today then they would owe me £60 for the unused days.
