Bigger Discs, Standard Calipers?

I've got standard 18 inch Rotor Alloys (S3 2012)

Can I put bigger discs (bigger than 345mm) on the front? is there room with 18's? + will the caliper accommodate it?

I want to fill the wheel with shiny j hooked discs! :)

i think you will find the carrier wont be able to cover any bigger size on the disks... you will probably have to go 4 pot callipers

I realise that the pad will not cover the entire area on with bigger discs and standard calipers.

+ It actually doesn't matter, I'll have better heatsink and more breaking 'leverage' (marginal yes).

If I just slammed some 360mm on would the caliper just not fit round? or some of the pad not be on the disc?

My 362mm discs and R8 calipers fit inside the standard wheel, though they need spaced to clear the spokes. It's tight, but they fit.

Not my image, but the same caliper

If I put S3 Calipers up to those 362mm will that work?

You see the little black spacer between the caliper and carrier? That's probably an 8mm spacer, you'd need a 20mm? You'd also get all kinds of uneven wear on the disc. I guess it would work in theory, but I'm not exactly an authority on the subject.

s3 disc is 345 the AP ones in pic are 362,
so 362mm-345mm =17mm therefore a spacer of 8.5mm would be needed ;)

I'm not 100% a spacer would even work with the standard carriers (aren't they built into the caliper?). I also forgot you half it, since it's +18mm diameter, not radius.

im not sure either Marty, & would NOT want to be the Guinea pig trying out anything like that :(
