Heated Seat Kits, anyone had any experience with them?

hey guys,
was thinking of getting some heated seats for my car, but all was very expensive, and i dont really want to get rid of my leather seats that are in almost brand new condition,

so i've seen these floating about on ebay, anyone had any experience with something like this before?

would also like to know what peoples thoughts are on them

if anything my only concern is they seem a bit... cheap!

Hopefully someone will give you the right answer. I can see the answer being too expensive. You'd want the oe look so means replacing heater control panel etc

yeah it wouldnt surprise me if it was to cost loads in the end! haha and yeah, the other problem was wondering where to put the switchs, like you say i'd rather have to Oe heater control panel, i guess it would be possible for that kit to be wired up to the oe heater control, might see about getting it done,

TBH 80 for that unit is good, seen some people on ebay asking loads more!

£80 is a good price but keep looking you can get them for £20
the ones on the ebay listing do work good
what car do you have ? as sometimes when the car comes with leather the heat elements are in the seats
quite easy to check if your lucky to have them in there then you just need the CC unit and a loom.

it would be nice if mine does! i can see wiring looms hanging down but not connected to anything, dunno if that means anything? i've got A4 b7 S-line Sport, 2.0tdi 170, with the two tone leather seats,

for the heated seats, you should have a green plug coming out of the seat

I've fitted a WAECO heated seat kit before in a Renault Megane, that was pretty straightforward - the hardest part is dismantling the seats to get the elements installed.

The Renault seat covers are held in place with velcro, so fairly easy to get off the foam and slip the elements in place.

I fitted Audi elements to my 96 A6 TDI Quattro Avant sports seats, that was painful as the seat covers are held in place with hog rings that are a pain to get off and put back on again. the Audi elements have holes in them to allow the hog rings to clip to the metal bars that run through the leather and keep the seat covers in place.

I'd be inclined to lookup the procedure for dismantling the seats in the Audi workshop manual and taking a view from that..

Like the others I would love to have heated seats and have the 2 tone leather S Line seats as have a Special Edition.

Me too ,got same two tone leather in a s line se,starting to freeze my but off lol,wtf werent these models fitted with this standard spec,no interior puddle lights either,what kind of special edition is that.

ooooooo, £418, thats alot for a warm bum, i'll have to see how i feel after i've got a few other things done first, may even give it ago myself, buy the pads, then a second hand heater control unit for the OEM look for the switches, if i do i'll try to do a step by step if its a success, if i dont do one... then assume that the side airbags went off.... lol

It's probably quite hard for a novice, but it's not difficult really. Stripping the covers, and the wiring will be the hardest bits.
Finding decent switches, and locations would be the killer. You want it to look OEM. Or close too.
Depending on the kit, it may have a rheostat in the switch for different levels.

If anyone in Bristol wants them, I could fit a kit you chose/supply.

Lol. As long as battery is disconnected, they wont deploy.

Unless you short the wiring , then reconnect, they are pretty safe.

ha i just phoned Audi to ask how much heated elements are, she then asked are you seats heated already? so i said no, she then goes on to say it cant be fitted to my seats then lol, i said to her well theres a few people who can fit heated elements i just wanted OEM parts, again she just said its impossible and cant be done! lmao i think she just didnt want to sell me any! lol

I fit the Waeco Carbon heated seats and they work a treat. Here a couple of photos I took from the most recent work I did on an Alfa GT

As said above, the toughest part is the installing of the elements, especially if the seats have a wire running through with rings connecting to top layer to the wire.

£400 is quite a fair whack.. we charge £299 all in.

Jb0o - tried to private message you but I can't get it working. I would love heated seats fitted to my B6 cabriolet, is the £299 price for fitting to both front seats, and if so, how much would you charge for fitting to one seat?
is it a lengthy job to fit? I'm not too far away from Hartlepool, just wondering if its something which could be done in a couple of hours on a Saturday morning?
