Hi Guys

Noobie question but what is a turbo back exhaust made up on?

Also which brand do people recommend? I had a fiesta ST with a full miltek exhaust and missing the noise:(

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Ryan

Down pipe middle section car bypass or sports cat centre section and back box usually I had milltek on edition 30 and gti both were good no problems and not too noisy

Ok the thing is ive looked into pricing and a turbo back exhaust cost £1200 and if you buy the cat back, downpipe and sports cat separately it comes to £900 so i wasn't sure what else is included in the turbo back.

That sound will never be replaced :p

I too had a miltek system on my Fiesta, was a 1.4 ST Replica. Miltek and Petrol is like music to thee ears :music:

what car you fitting it too?

Yeah ill look now. I do want sports cat so it passes MOT

The prices vary slightly depending on whether going for the decat or sports cat option. Sure it's around £1000 new with the decat but ~£1300 with a sports cat.

And is MIlltek the brand to go for on the S3?

Hi mate i have the turbo back sections of a milltek ,left for sale ..

Milltek seems to be the default choice. They're not the best quality exhaust, but certainly good enough for the money. Sounds good too (I have a non-res turbo back on mine) - deeper, but not too droning, and not intrusive.

To be fair to other potential buyers, the non-res Milltek does drone at motorway speeds, but if you're used to a noisy exhuast on your Fiesta then you should have no problems ;-)

Is there something with a bit more noise to it than the none res Miltek?

I'm not looking to chav my S3 up but I'm used to my standard Mini JCW being quite raspie and burbling/popping on gear change.

or is it just a case of the s3 hasn't got a great soundtrack and buy an R32 if that's what you want?

This.......but you may find it a bit too noisy!

Is that a CAT delete? I was ideally hoping to use a sports cat to enable passing of MOT.

what about a back box bypass in conjunction with a Miltek non res. Have seen some bypasses which can be turned on/off from within the car.

The pic is basically a back box delete on a Milltek, and is ear-bleedingly loud......AMDTuning do a very nice bypass setup in addition to what I've posted up,and it may be worth your while contacting Ben at AMDTuning,as they are Milltek's largest fitter, and can easily adapt one to your requirements.

That sounds very interesting haha

the bypass I saw was in this video from a company just down the road from me.

Pro-Speed Exhausts

For anyone that cant be bothered to watch the video it seems also as though the bypass is not just on or off but can be set at varying degrees inbetween.

The setup that AMDTuning provide can be used to switch a cat in or out,for road or track use.....mine basically removes a fair bit of back pressure, and we were surprised by how much faster the turbo spools up,but remember it's a fairly heavily modded BT setup on the car,so it may make more of a difference there than on a stock turbo.

why dont you just get a custom exhaust made

Getting a system with a switchable cat bypass or back box bypass basically IS a custom system, and it's best to decide beforehand exactly how much noise and inconvenience you're ready to tolerate.
As the "proud" owner of 2 cars with this sort of system,I think it's well worthwhile finding out beforehand not only how much it will cost, but getting a drive in a similar car if you can before deciding on the system.....it was easy with the S3,as I already had the Milltek, plus a custom downpipe, and deleting the back box was an easy task.

I was kind of asking myself a similar question I.e. is it best to go for a Miltek with a sports cat and add the bypass in or just get a system built from scratch. In other words is it best to have the Miltek aTBE system as a starting base to build around?

It depends on what you want really.....if you want a switchable system(cat or back box),then I'd advise contacting somewhere like AMDTuning if you're close enough, and getting them to look at your requirements and quote for you.
Mine started differently, and I was very happy with a straightforward Milltek system until other requirements began to intrude, and the downpipe had to go,followed by mods to the centre section, and finally this...

AMD are ar from close but I am happy to travel as I want to get stg 1 remap and induction kit done at the same time.

I've been leaning towards The Phirm in Hook but im not sure if they have ability to do custom exhausts - will have to check.

is an interchangeable decat worth doing with anything less than Stg 2+

The Phirm have a good reputation and would be worth a call.....I wouldn't bother with a decat on anything less than a Stg3 car.

Yeah I've also heard good stuff about them - my mate lives a lot closer to them and had all his work on his VR6 done there. Their website isn't up to much but a lot of their work is posted to their Facebook page.
