Hi guys,

basically i want to get some Lamin-x for my headlights and taillights but i am not sure on how much to get? The US site has them precut but the cost quite a bit where as the UK site has them in rolls of film... so how much would i need to order to do both front and rear lights? its for a Sportback which has 4 separate lights on the rear.

Thanks

Exactly.
That's why I didn't buy lamin x myself and bought some cheaper stuff off eBay.
I've fitted Lamin-x to a mates car and I've fitted the eBay cheaper stuff to mine.
Results = Lamin-x easier to fit, but both look the same when fitted.

Ash, 100x30cm is approximately 40"x12" so going by post 2, you will about 3 sheets.

never heard of it, hence my Q

Well it does the job, but it is more of a mesh film than a clear film, it's tiny tiny holes that allow light to pass through, sort of looks like tights with bigger holes. Whereas lamin x is a solid film, flyeyes is legal but doesn't look as good IMO

it turned up, looks like good stuff but not sure if i will get time before the weekend to put it on.
1 sheet may just do both headlights... 2 will do both headlights and leave loads left over!

the 100x30cm sheet I presume? Is it Lamin X or the eBay special?

its not actually lamina x but after checking out the actual stuff it really does look good and decent.
if you want wait till the weekend and i should have them on the car with some updated pics?

So it's the eBay stuff we linked too earlier in this thread? £10 per sheet?
Yes not a problem mate, may just order one sheet and see how I get on with it, haha.

yep thats it.
il get some pics up soon... but yh £12.50 (thats inc the delivery) won't hurt to try it?

Might give it a whirl mate!

When I measured up my headlight I recall it being around 18x7 inch or something along those lines..
So 100x30cm may well cover both!

I've just ordered a 300 x 1000 bit of the cheaper stuff myself
to do my rear lamp clusters, I've gone for subtle tint rather than
smoked. I have used genuine fly eyes and genuine lamin x before
on my last car and agree with the point above.
Fly eyes looks the part from a distance but up close it's pants.
Lamin x is good and very durable. Shame it's so expensive really.
Thought I'd give the cheaper stuff a go. What could possibly go wrong: :p

You ordered how much? You doing the rear lights or the whole car?
1 of those 30x100cm strips will easily do the 3 door rear lights, for a sportback 2 strips will cover the lights

I've bought one sheet of the 100x30cm too to try and do both of my headlights with! :)

It's always good to have spare, If it works well I may do the headlights ans fogs as well.
I also have another car and a van so I'll use it up sooner or later.
