there's something wrong with your s3, on most pics it's on the side, or is it driving on the walls?
anyways great ibis white s3...join the gang :icon_thumright:

trust me defo a s3 !!

none of this fake car nonsense, i got 32mpg on the way to work iv got that economy mode tells me to change gear, lowest mpg iv had was 5mpg, we have derestriced speed limits over here in the iom, you can go as fast as you want to, (at your own risk, and defo safely) :) id love to get a group of guys to come over in may june time as we have the TT on over here, and the mountain its closed one way so you can see the true power of your car, :)

Very nice car! For a 20 yr old you must be doing well to be in that!

IOM has no speed limits? That's it I'm packing up and moving!

Nice car mate :) How do you get instantaneous & average MPG up at the same time?

Very nice S3. That Sprint Blue one is pretty tasty too!

Does age have anything to do with it though? Im sure most 20 year olds could have an S3 if they wanted to be in debt up the whoopsie.

What reg is this S3 I'm gonna guess 09 for some reason

I'm 21 and looking to get an S3...I need something to rival 2 of my mates who have a Focus RS mk2 and a Pulsar GTI-R

Do you think an S3 could take a Focus RS mk2 if both were standard? I know Focus is pushing 300 as standard and S3 265

I will deffo get mine remapped to stage 1 at some point thought, probably with Shark as they seem balanced and no complaints on here from what I've read anyway

I had that blue S3 at 21.

These days, quite often to get your hands on one via PCP etc you either need a nice deposit or a good credit rating and regular income.

Of which I have all of those.

Work hard, play hard :)

Mk2 focus RS was fairly equal (i pulled slightly but nothing worth talking about) when I played with my friend with one. he had his decated and I'm stage 2.

They are almost identical in weight.

stage 1 won't cut it in my opinion.

As for the pulsar....ermm lol.

Hmm fair enough didn't know they were equal in weight, Focus always looked far chunkier but then the S3 has the 4 wheel drive so I guess it makes sense

and yeah Pulsar I was joking what my mates done to his it'll wipe me clean plus its v. light

what does PCP stand for, as I match all of what you listed, I'm just not sure how much to spend because I could get an S3 on finance if it's reasonably priced - I just don't do that many miles a year due to me commuting to & from work, so it'll only be weekend driving I have a feeling a faster car will be a love/hate when it comes to driving and petrol haha

As with borrowing any sort I money, in the long run it will cost you more.

Stick £500-£1000 or more for a deposit.

Then pay for example £400 a month for 4 years.

Over which time, if you want out, you need to pay off half of your existing debt (other half is the car). Give back car. (halves rule)

But in reality, after 4 years (end of contract) you give the car back and replace with a new one. (balloon payment will be way over priced) you don't want to buy it. You've paid mega cash if you do.

As for what it stands for, I've got no idea. google it! :)

As for the mileage.

It's roughly 7p a mile if you go over. (not applicable if you continue being a customer after the end of term) ie going for another 4 years etc.

mileage only really applies if you give the car back and do not continue being a customer.

Apologies to take this off topic but mjr901 you seem to know what you're talking about! Do you know if their would be any repercussions from trading up? (apart from obviously paying more reflecting the value of the 'new' car) I'm on a 4 year finance plan and I can see myself at some point wanting an A3 with a bit more under the hood! Cheers fella/sorry op!

Basically, if you want to upgrade (I did, twice!!) the chances are you'll be in negative equity, which basically means you will lose money.

So basically, To try and get your head round it, you sell the car back to them, which will be a value that is less than that what you for financed, say you paid 20k, you sell it back to them for 15k.

Theres 5k in there which will be added on to the next finance purchase.

Ie you want a car that's worth 30k, but in reality, it will now cost you 35k due to the balance not being equalised.

To change you really are better off waiting until the term is done. ie you've paid half owing. that way you don't finance even more cash.

But hell, I did it, and lets just say, never again.

They'll gladly take your money from you, but from my experience from PCP finance, (4 years, 3 cars) don't swap until 4 years is up. (or however long ur contract is)

But if you do swap, only do it once, it's still affordable. so long as you've paid at least a years worth off.

Awesome thanks bud, definitely the man to talk to then! I'll try and hold out for as long as I can (maybe 1-2 year mark), 4 years is a long time! :ninja:

I changed after 14 months to start with. (58 A3 170 to 09 S3 above)

To be honest, I should have drawn the line here. Was very manageable.

Then I went 9 months, and went BE S3 Ibis S-Tronic. - mistake. + last.

I'll be giving my car back and paying the mileage fee in 3 ish years. (unless I get a better job).

I'd rather spend my money elsewhere now.

however..knowing me....in about 6 months I'll be sat in an RS4. Can't get this petrol out of my veins.

Can see myself doing something similar! Got to stick to diesel for now but a 2.0 170 BE is too tempting. Can't help but thinking if I changed job in a couple of years (less miles) I would be way too tempted by the thought of an S3! Good to know that you can change once and it's still manageable. Then again if someone had told you not to change the second time could you have resisted that ibis BE S-Tronic!? :hubbahubba:

If your gonna change at all go straight to S3. Don't fanny around with the soot chuckers. :)

Hahaha believe me I wish I could, go straight for the S3 on 20,000 miles a year. Sorted!

I'm a graphic designer so don't use the car while I'm actually working, with the new job I'm going to be commuting 30 miles each way so definitely going to rack up some miles. Settled for a diesel in the first place due to travelling to the nearest lake to wakeboard! :arco:

Nice motor and colour mate! Get some better wheels though... 19inch Rotors ;)

Thought I'd join in as another 1992'er...I'm 19 and taking delivery of a 2012 Arctic white A3 2.0 TDI S-line (8V chassis) this week :) would of liked the S3 power though!!
