Reesy's Big Turbo A3

Top marks mate nice one :)

Bored of the K04 already? You've got power hungry now and it will never end ;)

Cheers mate.

Not really bored of the K04 and enjoying trying to get as much as possible out of it, but the turbo was too cheap to turn down, and assuming I get what I want for the K04 which isn't a lot really, this whole change might only cost me a couple of hundred quid..

You give in to my peer pressure far too easily.

Best start clearing the CC for some upgrades then lol. Also finding somewhere to live when you get kicked out.

Went to Ben's today and he fitted the inlet cam. Also sorted the bracket on the downpipe that seems to have stopped the exhaust from knocking.

First thoughts are the cam seems to have improved initial pickup from low revs, but it could be placebo. I need to do a few more miles really, to see if my thoughts change.

Also did the esp delete mod. It works and now when I press the ESP button it flashes on the clocks for as long as I press the button, but as soon as I let go it disappears. ESP is now off then.

Thinking this is the Barry Manifold that I am going for:

Brand New VW AUDI 1.8T T25 flange Cast Turbo Manifold | eBay

Was looking at VXR 480cc Injectors but have been advised they may be too small, so will look at 550's of 630's.

Downpipe will be custom made.

Tip will be homemade. Possibly green to match the brakes, but highly unlikely.

Charge pipe will be modded to suit.

Not sure about the mapping yet.. Run it on actuator pressure using stock injectors and MAF, see if Dan fancies spending some more time mapping it, or take it to R-Tech.

Lines will be purchased from eBay as well..

An interesting and very nice thought. The point was made to me yesterday that the car will gain 90bhp with the Garrett. The jump from k03s to k04 was only 65. Holy Sh!t.

It will also be over twice the power of what it was when I bought it 1 year ago.

Bah! Going from 150bhp to 275/280bhp is where its at.

Only winding you up mate.

You've got me pondering with idea of big turbo next year :p

Whats the expected figures from this new turbo then mate?

Impressive, least you wont have to rig its neck like you probaly would with a ko4 hybrid.

Size of the housing and wheels on this compared to a K04 hybrid mean it should make decent power without getting too hot, which will be nice. If a K04 hybrid can make 340bhp, this should make a fair amount more, even without WMI.

Plus it's easy to upgrade if I ever want to, although it's probably not going to be necessary.

My take on the big plenum, large port, k04 intake manifold. Complete with 70mm throttle body. Reesy has the first one, got to get it fitted and run some testing when I have a moment. I do need to machine the '16v' emblem off it though....

Pub lot, this was 'Project M'. Everyone else, you were none the wiser anyway.

Youll trial fitted it yet? Wont the angle and setup of the TB foul the slam panel?

awesome ! looks pretty dam sexy!

Been measured up and should fit. It's the reasons why the runners are so short, other wise it would have caught on the slam panel.

ahh that's good thought i was going a bit crazy thinking iv seen it before.

when is somebody gong to make me one of these large *** intake manifolds, AGU style!

You have large port runners, so the gains aren't quite as good as it's only the larger plenum that would be of benefit.

that's what i was on about :ninja:

using large port runners with a ten bazillion gallon tank/plenum welded on to them.... you get me?
