Just recently had some warranty work done at the stealers and to be fair to them the car was washed and hovered when I picked it up,
At the time I though nice touch as it did need doing. This opinion changed saturday morning when the sun came out, I have never seen as many scratches in the paintwork.

Since I've owned the car I've stayed away from the splash and dash car washes for this reason and always done it myself. So I will be ringing them first thing in the morning to try and sort something.

Question is has anyone else had the same problems and did the dealer sort the problem, or is it a case of my word against theirs.

Cheers.

Bearing in mind the 'valeters' at the dealers are marginally one step above the albanian sandwash brigade, I always stipulate no valet.Ive had to make a poster that i put on my dash to remind the dumb phucks cos they dont listen.MY PDI was a joke, and got the clowns to do it gain.At the next service i again told them not to, but they did and truckwashed the wheels.I whinged straight away and got a quote from a detailer to reprotect the wheels etc.Got a cheque for £75.Id moan like buggery at them as soon as.And make a poster up with 'DO NOT VALET' in big black letters

Can't comment too much as its an ongoing issue but I will never let their 'valeters' touch my car again. They are a disgrace to the name.

You would think this wouldn't be the case but lesson learned. I wouldn't mind but everytime I wash the car it takes me at least half a day, it took a day when I clayed it. B@stards!!

Lets see how I get on tomorrow, hopefully it's good news.

In fact, It would be nice to be able to buy a big phuck off poster the size of a sunscreen with the AS emblem on with 'NO VALET' emblazend on it

I had a big patch of paint blown off the front bumper of a previous car. The dealer would not admit they had done it! Eventually they agreed to repaint the bumper, but I was not impressed.

NEVER let them wash your car!
I too have made a sign and leave it on the dash i also write on the job card when i sign it not to wash the car,i did this the first time they took the car in and they still washed it,cost them over £300 for a full professional detail that i insisted was done as they had swrled the car, needless to say they have never done it since!

My mrs got an 09 TT Tdi as a company car supplied by Bolton Audi. When we went to pick it up it was a disgrace, it still had the sucker marks on the windows where they had been fitted in the factory!, paint full of swirls etc etc.

They either don't care or don't know what they are doing!

I was in the same situation last month, in for warranty work, advised the service team I didn't want it cleaning, written in big bold letters all over the docket - came to pick it up and service apologised that car had been cleaned - looked good outside. 2 days later when covered in dust and the swirls stood out like a sore thumb. I spoke with service advisor, kicked up a stink and they had the car back for a machine polish and to be fair they have done a decent job, just a couple of buffer trails on the bonnet that I will sort out when I get time with the DA.

Kick off and get it sorted to your satisfaction

Poole accident repair, Poole audi's official repair station, used something nasty on my wheels which ate the lacquer on my polished (replica s8) alloys. I kicked up a fuss and they eventually replaced the alloys. They must have found the cheapest nastiest ones possible tho, they barely lasted 6 months before road salt got the better of them :(

Took car in today - dull day so the scratches weren't as visible, but they agreed to sort it, machine polish etc - so we'll see how it turns out.

One word - ****ERS!!!!!!!!!

After stealers agreeing to sort the car Picked it up this week and noticed it looked a little dull but better than when it went in. Had a quick look round the car and didnt really notice anything out of the ordinary. The manager was knocking about so had a quick conversation where he said that the car had been machine polished and wax he then proceed to tell me he thought the scratches had been caused by me claying the car, when i brought the problem to their attention i told them i was very much into detailing the car and i had previously clayed it, id never taken it to the local russian blasters and this was why i knew the scratches had been caused by them.

I then had to explain how I'd Clayed the car working in small areas which couldn't account for the big horizontal and vertical scratches that was present on the car. Worse thing is it was a dull day and you couldnt see anything, unfortunately next day sun out i could see plenty of scrathes. Washed the car today and waxed it and have to say it looked a lot better than when i first picked it up and the vallet manager is trying to give me lessons in washing cars, c@nt!

Only problem is I've noticed a deep scratch on the bonnet just above the headlight, I'm 95% certain it wasn't there previously. I never saw this when I picked up the vehicle and only noticed it today - thinking it was bird poo yesterday, must have been polish stuck to the scratch.

I doubt I can prove it was them but another disappointing visit to the dealers - I shall not be returning.

I never let them wash my car... I always say "No Wash please" and they look at me funny... The stories here back up my worry!!

Mine is going in for some warranty paintwork shortly and I really don't want them to wash it but im thinking it will be more difficult to inspect their work if its not clean? I want to make sure the paintwork they carry out is spot on.

There will be a lot of dust no doubt on the paintwork after the work (cutting back polishing etc) so in this case they might have to.Just specify a jet wash and no wheels.touch.I doubt that they will understand this. One other thing though, it wont be audi that will be painting it.It will be contracted out.So its a question of who have the worst chimps

It will be Audi painting it. I took it into Edinburgh Audi to be assessed who normally contract there work out but because its warranty work it's going through to Glasgow Audi on a transporter to get done in their own bodyshop. I'd rather it was contracted out tbh because I know the company they use and have had work done by them before and know they would take good care of my car and do a top notch job. I'm going to make sure the car is clean before it goes through so it just needs a rinse off really.

I never let anyone wash my car to just for the fact I just don't trust anyone !

Mines in on Friday for warranty work, will put a sticker on dash and report back

Working for Audi and being a detailer myself I always like to pop out the back and see exactly how they do it! We've got 2 polish guys that obviously don't really care about how they wash the cars and just want to make as much money as possible really. Once they had an R8 in there and they were using one of those long telescopic brush things you use for cleaning trucks on it!! I was horrified so I ran over and was like what the hell are you doing to which they replied "err what's wrongs with it?!" Arghh it makes me feel so sick sometimes! Not to mention using the same dirty mitts and water car after car!

Well I feel I can explain my problems now as it has been put to bed.

When I first collected my new car, I was told that the valeters hadn't cleaned off the glue left from the transportation buffers properly so before I arrived, they wizzed it away and cleaned it.

We picked the car up on the Thurday and drove it away to the beach. It got covered in crap so when I got it home, I washed it off and noticed tiny little rust spots all over it caused from "Industrial fallout" I made them aware on the Saturday and said I'd be out on the Monday.

On the monday I took the car out to the garage and they took it away and started cleaning it. I made them aware that I was concerned that would they put some wax on to protect it and they said they would. As it was returned, I noticed swirl marks all over it so they rubbed them off. No wax though but I didn't find out until it rained after and the water didn't pool.

A week later, I washed it again and noticed that there were rust spots in places where the valeters hadn't done last time but not only that, there was a paint blemish on the rear bumper. Again I took it out and let them see it and they were shocked and said that they would get a smart repair done.

On the Friday before it went in, I was driving down the motorway and noticed that the build label that they stick on the inside of the windscreen in Germany on the line had transferred all its ink onto the inside of the screen. They obviously didn't clean the screen, just pulled the label off.

I took the car out on a Monday to have the smart repair done and was called out on the Wednesday to take a look. I was applaed that the guy or the dealer thought this was good. It was almost like there was a blue primer with one coat of white with a definite line where the blend was done and it was orange peeled to hell. I refused to accept it and they said they'd paint it.

I was given another car to use while they removed the bumper and painted it. It took until the following Wednesday to be done and when I looked at it, to me, it was totally different. By now, I didn't want the car anymore and tried to refuse it. Long story short, they made out it would be such a long drawn out and painful process that I just as well keep the car.

Im not convinced it is right but they are adamant it is. I have asked for a letter in case the bumper fades more than the rest of the car as of course when new, it was painted in one go, with one batch of paint, in Germany on a line and now my bumper was painted with a different batch by hand in Bristol.

They have compensated me and have agreed for my valeter to clay, polish, finesse and wax the whole car and they will pay.

I am appalled at this and whole heartedly blame the valeters as it is all their doing. The bumper blemish was either caused by mopping in one spot too long or a heat lamp as when I bought the car, I took pics and there was no defect in any pic I took and the car was in my garage the rest of the time.

My advice, don't let the mongolid valeters touch it.

When did you originally pick it up because I'm pretty sure by law you have a 14 or 30 day cooling off period where you can hand the car back and they can't do anything about it...

I'm sure that someone will be along to confirm or shoot this down though.

We collected it on Thursday the 20th and spotted the rust spots on the next day but didn't notice the defect until the following Friday still all well within 30 days.

Audi customer services told me they couldn't "Make" the dealer do anything and the dealer pretty much flat out said we're taking the car.

Nah, they can't 'make' you take the car mate. I can't look it up just now but will look out the technicalities tomorrow unless you get to it before me. Just google it! ;)

Nice one! It looks like the cooling off period for this is 14 days so I don't know if that would be longer than when you bought it?
