i dont know alot about audis so im here to learn of you guys,
mine has a bmc carbon filter and a revo stage one i have been told now if i want to go to stage 2 what would i need and how much money am i looking at?
not sure weather to tune or get the odd chip etc painted!!!
many thanks guys

Hey, I have dolphin grey 2002, in between stage 1- 2 there great cars S3. My advice would be if it hasn't been done already, put it thrgh a major service first before buying modz.
It depends if you want to go down route of taking it on track or jus every day use. Price range £1500 on wards, for mod kits, it depends. They can leave a hefty hole in your pocket so be warned.

Hi

I have a Dolphin Grey 2001 AMK S3. All standard except a B5 v3 TIP.

+1 to the major service.

If I were you I'd spend my money on making sure the following are checked/changed or at least in good condition:

Major things:
A) Oil pickup (easy DIY)
B) Cambelt, tensioner & water pump (NOT a metal impeller).
C) Thermostat, coolant & temp sensor (easy DIY)
D) Cooling fans and fuses on battery cover. (easy DIY)

Things which will make it handle and perform reliably - no point in improving power if it handles and responds like a bag of sh*t and destroys tyres IMHO.
1) suspension bushes (I upgraded to poly) front and rear
2) top mounts
3) get 4 wheel alignment done
4) check vacuum, breather lines are intact and replace any damaged ones (you WILL mostly likely have some split ones). (easy DIY)
5) haldex oil & filter (easy DIY)
6) get VCDS logging done and iron out any gremlins. (easy DIY)
7) think about getting new/uprated springs and maybe shocks.

Other things that are worth doing or at least checking: (all easy DIY)
(front) gearbox & bevel box oil
(rear) diff oil
fuel filter
dipstick tube and guide
haldex earth strap
check the coil pack wiring loom
rocker cover & tensioner gasket

I'm sure I've missed things - but this is based on what I've done to my S3 and in my very basic experience of S3 ownership.

hi mate thanks for that what do people think of coilovers on here? i always end up polly bushing my cars as they feel so tight afterwards.
what the b5 v3 tip buddy?

BMC CDA may well be holding back your power.. Not good results with these usually
standard airbox with a panel filter maybe?

I went for poly as I get bored changing the bushes all the time.

The "b5 v3 tip" ... Badger5 third generation turbo inlet pipe.

Badger5 is a VAG tuning specialist, run by a chap called Bill who frequents this forum, Bill has designed a series of upgraded turbo inlet pipes which are less restrictive over the airflow from the air filter into the turbo.

Badger 5 or ThrottleBodies.com - Performance Induction Systems

Do a search on the forum for b5 tip.

new air filter would be included in a service, if you search for the tip you'll find lots of info about the standard filter compared to an upgraded one.

std airbox ok, but you will get more from other mods as suggested by others..
my best results come from 80mm tip + open filter & heatshield arrangement.. Louder than an enclosed setup but greater airflow/power
