What offset to get with 20mm adaptors ?

I know its been asked many times but I can't get my head around this offset drama.

I can get some H&R pcd adaptors here in Dubai, to adapt 5x112 wheels to fit 5x100.

So what I would like help with is the offset I would need for 18" 8J wheels to sit flush with the outside of the S3 wheel arch, with the 20mm adaptors fitted.
From what I have searched for and tried to calculate on the wheel offset calculator, I need wheels that are 18" 8J et45.

Does this sound right?

It depends on the style of the wheel i have 30mm spacers on mine, and mine sit just under the arch @ et 45

I got the std S3 17" ronel, which I think is et32.

So my understanding is with et45 + 20mm adaptor the wheel will stick OUT 7mm more than the stock 17"s.
Does the change to 8j effect anything?

it does larger the j the wider the wheel i had 8j wheels with et 35 on 11mm spacers and they sat inside the arch audi rs4 reps now i have bbs ch reps on same et same spacers but 9j and they sit flush with the arch. camber can also determine how the wheels sit had 3 degree on rear and sat in the arch loads changed to 1.3 degree and now nearly flush

Really does depend on the style of wheel and the width. You could have two styles of wheel with the same width but different offsets because one wheel has a deeper dished spokes.

How flush are you after exactly? I'm running ET32 on 18x8 rims with 15mm spacers on the rear, making them ET17, and they still sit inside the arch when lowered due to the camber, I think you can go as low as ET10 on the rears with 225/40R18 tyres on 8" wide rims on an S3. For ET45, you can go for 25mm spacers/hub adaptors to make them ET20, the spacers/adaptors reduces this figure, as the offset is usually a minus figure. On my fronts, I'm using 10mm spacers to make them ET22.

I don't have a better pic of my current setup, but this gives you an idea.
