Track Car Content (K04 Inside)

I just pushed it from the unit to a parking space. FASTEST ASN TRACK CAR! Haha

Ben, can you post some pics of ASN's fastest track car?

I know Prawn is jealous really...

A car with no back seats or headlining that has never seen the track is not a track car, it's a half ****ed leon with a load of bits removed

Fcn kids!

It has a small dent in the rear 1/4 panel, but apart from that it's in vgc. At least we wouldn't get seasick driving it back from places :lmfao: Of course it's a track car, just in track prep form at the moment.

Also has no spare wheel or tool kit and will have a fire extinguisher in it, making it a genuine race car without the stickers.. Unless Dan can get a tuning company name set up.

Needs a sunstrip with because racecar on it backwards so people can read it in rearview mirror

Since the car no longer has a decat, and will be rocking a stock K04 mani and DP, a decat has been made for it.

Track Prep is going well. And at a pricey sum of £0, fitting in well with the rest of the build. I have found some Ferodo pads in the shed that will go on when the current spec run out, and all is good.

Anyone that wants a ported K03 mani, let me know as the one that was on the car is up for grabs.

Sounds like mine

Must be a proper track car.

As it happens, I actually have a backwards 'BECAUSE RACE CAR' sunstrip in my drawer at home, Tori won't let me fit it to the polo :(

BECAUSE NOT RACE CAR?

Exactly, although I think this was from the neighbours van rather then £3k's worth of Armco.

Ha let the pictures flow

Edit*
Mine had a big dents also!

Good work with the leon reesy, i want to do this also, but ill get a REAL car like an A3 ;)

Wer all jumping on the prawn waggon, as you say reesey it can all be done quite cheap especially if split 2 or 3 ways (no not you coatsey)

my brother took an intrest in my last a3 and he wants a hobby and saw the episode on top gear lol

Edit again, (deleted half of what i ment to put editing the 1st time, this post is a shambles lol)

So £600ish on the car and do stuff as and when money permits, we just wont be going all out like prawn lol

I started out with a strict budget of £1500, £500 was for seats and harnesses and steering wheel, £500 was for track wheels and tyres, and £500 was to get it back on the road because it was shagged.

Then this gearbox came up with a quaife diff fitted for £500, and the trouble started!

2 years later, and more money than I care to think about, and I currently have a crashed shell with no engine

Definitely, would have liked an A3 but everyone knows the Leon is a faster car, and this one was very cheap.

Exactly, cheapness is the name of the game.. We won't be spending anything like Prawn either, so that when it eventually ends up in a tyre wall/armco, it's not that much of a big deal!

You and coatsey would just end up stripping out the rear of the car, sticking some foam in it and rusty tromboning until the sun shone through the windows.

you'll do a trackday, and spin the inside wheel the whole time, then it'll just need a diff, but that'll be it.

Then you'll cook the brakes, and it'll just need some 4 pots.....

For all you that were after pictures:

THE Dent.

The one of the car isn't mine, but the other 2 were taken by Ben of the bits now fitted to the car. Should be popping up tomorrow after work so will get some better pics..

Paid £1150, and got almost 75% back from the sale of the hybrid.

It also has an armrest, albeit cloth, if anyone reading this is interested..

Saturdays progress on the Leon was as follows:

Support Bracket installed

That was about it really, as work commenced on a new mod for my car.

New mod will be ready by the end of the week, it's a goodun! Reesy nearly went off in the holster when mocking said mod up yesterday.

Acting as if you aren't mildly damp for it? Nice move. Anyway, that's not for this thread.. Just look at that bracket!

Need a sparco boss to fit a racing steering wheel to the car, anyone got one or any idea of the best place to get one?

As you can see the Leon is back together.

Spent the afternoon yesterday getting it sorted as it hasn't had a lot of time spent on it. It isn't the best looking K04 install, but it is functional and everything is plumbed in where it should. Also helps that Ben has a large amount of tools, spare pipes and a fair amount of experience in this sort of thing.

We went out in it to get some petrol and it ran out :( Got that sorted after a 1 mile walk and took it out for a test drive.

It feels very fast. It's also makes a very nice noise, but isn't too loud so shouldn't have any noise worries. Took it through some country lanes and some A roads and it seems capable on both. Despite being on a K03s map, it has the larger injectors and MAF in their so it all tallied up pretty well. Will get the K04 map on at some point in the week and tweak a few things down in unisettings to take into account it doesn't have an XS mani or 3" downpipe.

Leon has the K04 map on it now. Seems to go well enough..

Time dependent we discussed last weekend about doing a home made short shifter for it, like Stacey has done.

Next weekend will also see the epic Creation Motorsport 80mm tip migrate from one 5 door racecar to another, as it replaces the stock k04 tip currently on the car.

I know you lot like pictures so here is 1 when it was new!

Having been moved into the Projects thread, I expect this to become an online diary rather then a thread that any others actually read, but oh well.

The best thing about a 2wd car

Stock mani is possibly a bit restrictive and not getting rid of as much heat as it could..

Giving him a hand sorting his S2000 clutch today, then possibly fit some 256 rear brakes and the front Goodridge lines and Ferodo pads.
