The loss in sound is me cutting the audio afterwards, Me and Bigcheese were chatting crap and I hate my camera voice.

Harry's lap timer did exactly what it was meant to. worked perfectly.
 
sound loss looks like a glitch in Tam's phone Bill, I use Harrys Lap timer a lot and it's great!

Yes, possibly an over reaction, but the facts remain, you're told VERY clearly in the drivers briefings not to go back on track leaking fluids. it can, and frequently does result in people dying.

If I had come through folly and up Avon rise at 120mph and spun on his coolant and gone straight on at quarry, you wouldn't be saying it was an over-reaction then?
 
does it work on older iphones do you know?

IP3 being what I have sat doing nothing.

105mph up avon rise...
compare with 150+mph going thru folly in badgerwagen in the dry
muchos scarey!

It works on the iphone3 Bill, but requires an external GPS antenna to get a decent trace.

The trace data when using the IP3 internal GPS is pretty terrible, and the plots don't even look like the correct track.

IP4 internal GPS works well though

150 is some serious speed up there! I can well believe it though :)

I have been told in every single one of the 20 odd driver briefings I've done at Castle Combe. I find it hard to believe it wasn't mentioned on Saturday.

The typical line is usually

''if you have an off, do not try to fix the car at the side of the track, do not try to limp it back to the pits because you might be leaking fluid. Wait where you are and we will come to you''

I've been told that in every briefing I've ever attended.

It's nothing to do with being a professional anything superK, it's just common sense I'm afraid!

What did he hope to gain by limping it back? Apart from cutting everyones session short, if he just sat there a recovery vehicle would have come and taken him back to the pits, no charge, no hassle, no fuss.

If it were just a spin and all was fine then maybe fair enough, but with smoke still pouring out of the car? really?
 
"do not try to fix the car at the side of the track" Then theres Welly fixing a boost pipe at the side of the track and then carrying on lol!
 
i swear to god spiliages were'nt mentioned in my briefing. reesy was in mine too.

i dont think theres any need to slate the guy who like many of us have no experience of track driving. its a noob event. and these things happen
 
Our briefing might have been a bit briefer as their was only 4 of us!

If their were no coolant / oil warning beeps after the incident (unlike prawns n'burgring prang in which the beep is my favourite bit) i probably would have driven it back to the pits and changed my boxers.. If the smoke was still pouring out I probably would have pulled into the nearest exit around the track as I think t8ups did..
 
Despite weather there was fluids or not from that lads car if I was there I would of just crashed in to everyone thinking aww its just like forza... I need to get my self on a race track, never been before and iv always wanted to be a rally driver :)

Which is what happened.
It carried on, then a coolant error, then pulled over in to an exit.

Funny, none of the marshals or tow truck driver said he did anything wrong or dangerous.
If it really was that bad that everyone would have died, they might have said something.

Clearly none of you get it.
 
I think people do understand what you mean and you`re 100% correct and you can understand Scotts comments too especially the marshalls not having anything to say about it but at the end of the day nothing bad happened because of the spillage so thats all we need be thankful for.

If someone did have an accident on the fluid then sure we could have pointed fingers and played the blame game until the cows come home but nothing did so its pointless going over what happened.
 
This is as ridiculous as the imaginary motorcyclist on his imaginary bike on the imaginary oil slick that I posted in a thread the other day, when my track car let go of it's turbo.

Nothing bad happened, and it's about time someone posted some more pics from ADI.

Water evaporates yes, coolant doesn't though, it's VERY slippery. Just as bad as oil if not worse because it quickly spreads over a larger area.

I don't run ANY anti-freeze in my car when I go to trackdays, for this very reason. The coolant is dropped before hand, and it's filled with 100% water.

What gets me is more the fact that nobody seemed to even give the safety aspect a second thought....

Everyone is very flippent because 'nothing happened'

Pretty sure I work in a more health and safety concious industry than most, so perhaps that's where my concern comes from.

Anyone seen this triangle before?

I understand the risk of what was done, AND agree it was a foolish thing, BUT if somebody is new to track days then the helmet of the driver can be a busy place when things go slightly tits up.
A lesson learned i hope,
