My car wont start. it wouldnt even unlock so had to use the key. Nothing on the dash or anything when i turn the key. Tried to get a jump start, dash light etc came on but still wouldnt start. Would just turn over and slowly at that!

TBH i'm sick of this car, had it nearly 3 months and nothing but problems!!!

Oh man unlucky, mine did a similar thing, run out battery and it was completely dead. 140 for a recovery truck down the sink.

Unlucky mate, does sound battery related, glad I have de locked all th doors on my car otherwise I'd be in the sh1t

Was this the battery or are you still at roadside?

If you've been messing around with the car a lot recently you may have discharged the battery to the point that parking it & setting the alarm for a few hours is enough to drain the last bit of life out of it.

Coincidentally: I've been doing a lot of messing with a new stereo in mine & just decided to top the battery up last night ..as I do every October to see me through the winter months.. it took 16 hours of charge before it was close to full, so I think I caught it just in time.

Hi guys, just an update.......

It was definitely the battery. It was completely drained due to my engine fan constantly running when the engine stopped. Got it jump started after needing the actual truck to do it as the sole unit didnt have enough power to do it.

When i got home i had to disconnect the fan by taking out the 80A fuse due to it still going when i got home and thinking it was going to do the same again!

Anyone heard of this?

I think and dont qoute me thats the dreaded fan problem quite common I believe and its a new fan unit to sort the problem I'm afraid... Someone I am sure will know a little more on it.

Yes ...I had this issue last year. You will have to buy a new complete fan unit. £150 - £200

Arrrrrrrrgggghhhh!!!! One thing after another!!!

In the process of buying a Flywheel and now looks like i need fans! Getting REEEAAAALLLLY annoyed, only had the car less than 3 months and i bought it from a garage. I have 10 days left warranty up to a value of 150 pounds!

Feel for you I have spent quite a bit on mine since I've had it.. mainly getting all the bits done that had been neglected by the previous owner.. When they go wrong the aint cheap!

i feel your pain, but stick with it and hassle the dealer. That many problems the dealer should and is still liable. Tell them you want an extended 6 month warranty or you'll go to trading standards as car is not fit for purpose

I had this on a 2.0TDI. Basicalli I got the car washed at the local "hand car wash" and they jet washed in the grill too much. This burnt out the fan controller causing it to run constantly, flattening the battery :( £400 fix!

Thanks for the replies, looks like alot of us have been in the same boat unfortunately!

Been onto the garage and he said he will send me a cheque for 100 pounds towards the cost but after that he wants nothing to do with the me or the car, making me more suspicious! That means 250 altogether including the warranty! If i bought the car local i'd take the car back but the garage is in Rochdale and im in Darlington and with a 4 month old baby its a bit of hassle to travel especially with no fans!

P.S Since i disconnected the fans obviouisly the dont work but what is cooling the engine as the oil level stays in half way?

Air flow while the car is moving would cool the engine but not when you stop.

Yeah i thought that but thought maybe something else aswell because it stays at the half way point and doesnt go up or down. I put the heaters on full too just incase...

I think it still shows at 90 even when it gets a bit above so be carefull you don't overheat in traffic. You can use the air con display to show what the real temperature is.

Good idea bud. What temp can it get to before it will damage the Gasket?

I don't have a clue mate, someone should know what temperature the fans kick in at and I would guess its best not to go much over whatever that is. I don't know much about cars lol. I'm here more to learn than give advice but someone should be able answer I would imagine.

Haha no probs, thanks for the advice mate.

So you just got the standard 3 months then mate, sale of good act covers you for 6 if its...not fit for purpose

Makes you think about distances though, when I took my car back to London for what I hope if the final time or their keeping it, I left the house at 1pm and after waiting around, a drive to show them what its doing, then rain and poxy traffic I got back home at 8pm!

I think on most cars the max is around 120o with good cooling system hoses & correct anti-freeze levels, but I wouldn't want to see much above 100 even with that personally.

Yup i know, never getting a car which is more than 10 miles away again!
