Now that the Edinburgh meet has been and gone I am looking at getting a Rolling Road day at Extreme Motorsport @ West Calder. I have fired off an e-mail to them today asking for costs involved and how many cars they can take. I will wait for the response from them before trawling for good dates.....possibly Nov/Dec. Just need a rough idea of numbers so PM me if you want to attend and I shall update accordingly. If anyone has used Extreme Motorsport before can you let us know how it went.

Like you already know Mark I'm well up for this, hopefully the numbers are good and the prices are reasonable.

Morning Mark, pop me down for now but it will really depend on the cost and when it happens before I'll give a definite yes...

I've used Extreme before. The numbers leave a lot to be desired, and the operators knowledge.

Cost is usually £40 for under 10 cars or £35 for over 10 cars

I've never personally used them myself but have only heard good things, very knowledgable etc and when i was at a RR day there the figures seemed to be believable. What problems have you had?

I have no doubt the guys there know there stuff. That doesn;t necessarily come across with what they tell you.

e.g. I've run the same car there three times, with varying different results. Fist time I apparently had 30% drivetrain losses, 2nd time 23% and third time 18%.
At a recent day, a couple of R32s made 210bhp at the wheels, which translates to 280bhp at the crank apparently

I was asking him about the huge drivetrain losses and he explained to me how if a 2wd car loses 15%, then obviously a 4wd car will lose 30% as its double the wheels.

I also find it very strange how they ask all owners what they think the car will make beforehand, and the results are almost always within 5bhp of that. Its unusual that all those owners know exactly what there car will do. Or maybe I'm just cynical.

Yeah I know there can be alot of discrepancies between RR's. What you get on one you might not necassarily get on another. This is open to everyone to make a decision whether or not its a good idea for a meet. Feel free to comment everyone.

I'd still come along, as I like a day out. I'm just saying that I wouldn;t rely on the figures your given

Thats fine Garry.....this is what Im after..........peoples experience of the place as if its no good or there is better then they dont get the custom. The only other option I believe is The Car Clinic in Edinburgh which can't accomodate alot of cars together. Are there any good reputable RR's over Glasgow way????

Theres Ecotune in Hillington but they are only 2wd until the end of October.
Its not very central for people coming from edinburgh, falkirk, stirling etc though

Star performance used to do alot and Jim was always accomodating not sure about nowadays if he still does them. Plus personnally Jim is the only person id trust with my car on the RR as he has done so many S tronics and from what i understand if you hit the potentiometer on the RR and it drops down a couple gears its not so good.

Got word back from Extreme Motorsport and the price for 12 or more cars is £35 per car.

"This gets you 2 runs that's all you need, we takes afr, wheel power, flywheel power, torque and boost where applicable just the usual things, and we are 2 min walk from cafe's Gregs"

Opinions please guys whether or not this is a viable meet.

Count me in for this just got my rs3 remapped by revo so would like to see the gains!

Brodster, will this have to be an Saturday? if so i do have a week off in November, if your planning it around then

There is Ava just behind Glasgow airport 0141 848 5257 I got Glasgow Audi to use them when I had a problem with my 8l quattro. Depending on when this is I will attend but not going on the rr

I would be up for it as well if they dont have issues running a DSG.
I have been before with my BMW 335 auto and they couldnt give me the same run and breakdown as everyone else, just a final power reading they said due to the auto box

I have used them before and the service was good.
There is Dastek in Dalgety Bay who I have used as well.
I would be up for this if it does not coincide with me working.

Anything happening on this? I'd be up for this if not too far away and the RR can do 4wd?

Just been waiting to see if anyone else was going to put their name up. Seems a good number of members want to go so I will start the ball rolling and give Extreme a call this week. We need 12 so I will amend the list tonight.

This sounds good but will really depend on the final date so just post up when you don't know and I'll give you a definite answer! :)

What's the latest on this then? If I'm home, I'd love to bring along whatever it is I end with next... probably to check for "coking".

I could also be up for this. Took part in an event there before and was happy with them. Just had my S4 converted to gas so would be interesting to see the difference in power.

One or two of my mates would possibly be up for this aswell which would boost the numbers up aswell.

Right then......the RR day may have to be postponed until next year. Reason being Sandra is trying to organise a Go-Karting day possibly around Edinburgh and we feel this would be better for all. Dates to be arranged but watch out for further details.

That should be fine, not sure I'd make it down if it was between now and Christmas (waiting to hear when I'm offshore next). Hopefully I'm here for the karting though, it's always such a laugh.

Martin, be prepared to get beaten. Lmao. :) x
