Hi,
has anyone ever had their seats re-upholstered?

The alacantara on the driver's seat in my S3 is close to giving up. Any help/ideas much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi jonny,im pretty sure Nathan (userN8) has had his done, there will be others as well im sure someone will be along shortly. :) x

Have you tried de-bobbling it with a 'remington fuzz away' or the modern equivalent? works wonders on mine...

Thanks <tuffty/> will look into that. There's a lot to remove though, I can imagine it will look pretty batrren and worn afterwards. Think a replacement might be necessary so any advice gratefully received.

Cheers

Ha, ok will give it a go.

My seat looks like lots of strands rather than bobbles though. Still worth it?

Mine was bobbly as **** when I bought the car... its surprising how well it comes up...

In all seriousness PT, a razor is king. I did it on my Clio RS seats which were facked and they came up mint. Think I've got some pictures somewhere, I'll try and dig them out.

I spent an afternoon with a Mach 3, a suede brush and a bottle of this trying to sort out my mates seats - Swissvax Alcanta Textile Cleaner For Alcantara - FREE UK Delivery

And managed to do a ****** good job if I may say so myself!

I totally ruined my seats when I did this -

I just got my mach 3 out and used a sponge to take all the face ache gel off it and then gently shaved it and used the same process with the Swissvax cleaner, when it had dried they looked mint again and I was over the moon.

Interesting (strokes beard and contemplates)

Shave the beard as a tester, what's the worst that can happen.

I'm tighter than a crabs ****, if I've got a razor in the bathroom that's costing me nothing I'd be using that.

As long as you don't go at it like Donkey Kong in an all you can eat Chinese you'll be fine.

I have used both bic disposables and a de-bobbler... I personally find the de-bobbler the weapon of choice on mine...

<tuffty/>

Same here, I used a Bic disposable and a JML Bobble Off, the JML thingy works wonders!!

Lol, this has got to be one of the funniest threads on here today. I can just see you all out there with the bic razors. :) x

Now that I'm using the Wilkinson Sword for the car seats should I be using Comma Interior Cleaner for my face?

With a leathery mug like yours, it can't be of any harm.

Disclaimer* I have no clue what you look like, for all I know you could be beautiful. But for the purpose of this post you have a face that resembles a pigs ear.
