Im sure tuffty mentioned organising another B5 one at some point, I think it's almost 2 years since the last one :)

It was pretty much 2 years ago, 9th November I think. I'm totally up for another one, let's get it organised (just wait until I get stage 2'd again!)

Inlet, buckets upfront, poly bush all round, finally some proper light wheels, bodywork, hybrid when you get bored of k04 power, the list goes on no matter how long you put it off lol

he's already a lonnnnggg way down that slippery slope.

i wonder how the large port/plenum manifold will aid top end flow, maybe sustain torque and power a bit top end. what did you see tuffty, where were the improvements?

My first drive into work in my car today and disaster has struck!!!

Started the journey fine, car was unreal when overtaking on the A roads I have into work. I stopped at Shell to fill up with V Power, left and about another 10 miles down the road went for an overtake. Car felt like it was down on power slightly and I thought the WMI pump was making a lot of noise! Bit further down the road and the noise is getting louder while off boost and seemed to be coming from directly in front of me. At this point I was going through a village at 30mph so I opened the windows and was greeted by the unwelcome raspy sound of a blowing exhaust.

As the sound was directly in front of me and after all the chat with Niki on Saturday about how the XS manis tend to crack if you don't have the K04 support bracket, I immediately suspected that my V1 had cracked. I slowly made my way the last 20-25 miles into work and parked up. Looking under the bonnet and I cant see anything glaringly obvious so I thought i'd let it cool down before I can have a feel around for splits or missing nuts/studs/bolts. I then had a thought that maybe the sleeve I'd used to fit my miltek to my xs DP may have come loose so I took a look underneath. The hanging rubber for the first part of the miltek after the cat is missing (must have snapped) and the mid section was obviously hanging lower then it should be. I'm really hoping that this bouncing up and down has made the mid section come loose and that I haven't cracked the mani.

If mani is cracked I'm in a race against time to get a new one fitted and the car ready for ADI on Saturday :( I'm off to my local exhaust place as soon as it opens to get them to fit a new rubber and seal the mid section, then we'll see if the blowing has gone.

s***t dude, hopefully its not the exhaust mani as changing that is going to be an **** ache.

Could you tell if there was any blowing from the mani area? or did it sound like underneath?

what rubber/mount are you talking about cause the first one after the CAT/DECAT doesn't have a bracket. I don't know why Milltek put it there. unless they use the same pipe for another car.

Oh yes I forgot about that, it's a spare hanger isn't it! In which case it probably is the mani! I need to let the car cool down before I can have a proper look.

I couldn't pin point the blowing on idle with the bonnet up and as I had nobody with me to press the accelerator while my head was under the bonnet I just left it. When in the car it does sound like the mani or DP and as the DP has been fine ever since we fitted the correct studs I'm guessing mani :(

I really hope it's not the mani. how you going to do it if it is. head off or on? you need to buy some spare spanners and bend and cut them as a couple of the mani to head nuts are a ball ache to get to.

Quickest and less stressful way will be head off but the cleanest cheapest way will be with head on. It will all depend on how quickly I can get hold of a V3 mani and I'll have to work on the car each evening :(

:sos:

Why have you moved so far away... it's not like i can just pop round to give you a hand....

I know mate. I can put you up over night too now but I'm so far from your work.

Once the car has cooled down I can inspect all fixings and check for cracks. If the mani is finished then I'll have to just buy a new one and smash it out over this week. If I know a mani will be coming say Wednesday then at least I can get this one off in the mean time.

It maybe just the manni to turbo gasket...mine blew after 8 hours on the dyno...

Hopefully it is just the gasket then, it sounds like a pretty meaty exhaust blow. Maybe the dyno finished it off?!

Last 2 things I've got from xs power have taken 5 days..

That'll be my ADI over then if I do need a new mani. I'll be there in the effing corsa :(

could it not also be the mani to turbo studs, niki told me i had to keep an eye on mine, as they kept coming loose on the dyno when they where so hot.

just super triple check everything !

Worst come to worst send it to Dave and get him to pigeon **** all over it.

I'm really hoping it's just a gasket or a loose stud as I really don't want to have the head off! I'll have a good feel of the fixings once the car is cool.

You not able to see if one of the girls at your work have a small mirror that you can attach to a ruler or something to then pokey jigery it down the back to have a look.

Home made Inspection mirror FTW!

Lol. It's ok mate as I can't fix anything in the carpark.

You don't have to fix it lol, just look and you might find that its just something daft, or even if it is the mani you can source One as early as possible. Might make your day go quicker aswel

She doesn't need to know. Just tell her you are getting it prepped for the track.
