Hello all

Been a while since I've been on this forum, I did have an A4 Quattro (B7) changed that for a Q3 at the beginning of the year

BIG MISTAKE

I'm now looking for an S3 (2 ish years old)

I've seen this in autotrader

Audi S3 QUATTRO 3DR + RECARO BUCKETT SEATS + MILLTEK 2.0 2009

Could anyone help me out ?

Anyone Know it?
What's a Milltek 2.0 ?
Why is it about £3000+ over book price ?

Cheers

Milltek is the exhaust fitted to it... Around £700 worth... The Recaro's were a £2000 option when new and quite rare. Coupled with only 15k on the clock that's why it's up at such a high price...

Thanks for that

Would the 2 Owners put you Off ?? Saying that one could be Audi, though I don't know

Not really, as I expect one was Audi as a demo car. Plus it is three years old so a few owners is normal. Had it had four or five then alarm bells would be ringing!

That is a stunning motor!! The seats look so comforable, ****** trying to check your blind spot though!

There's no way its worth that, even if it is low miles and high spec. It may have buckets, but no RNS-E!? Looks like pressed plates - odd for the standard reg. I think the 2.0 is just refering to the engine being 2.0 litres, it's not a mk2 Milltek. And there's only one 't' in 'bucket'.

it's obviously a modified car, but how far those modifications go is anyone's guess without a closer inspection! Race Wheels, debadged rear, blacked out grill - I'll bet it's been mapped too.

Minus points: No RNS-e, No Auto Lights, No DSG (debatable), No rear Parking Sensors, Drivers seat bolster looks like it might have seen more mileage than stated ..my seat squab is just starting to look like that at 31.5k miles.

Worth 23K? IMHO No! ...offer 20, go as far *** 21. But when all's said & done, what matters is what you're prepared to pay.

All good advice people.

I'd put money on those seats being a retro fit, that's why they look so tired.

the more I think about it the more I'm put off

Assuming it was a 30K car with discount then the current asking price makes its residual value around 75% after 3 yrs !!?
No chance.
I cant think of any mainstream car that has that kind of retained value.
Way too much money.

I would be happy to have a modified car as long as I knew its history, but wouldnt pay a premium for it.

Lots of cars out there, good luck with the search.

Why would 4 owners put you off?
A 3 year old car with 4 owners would most likely mean it had\has issues they all disliked enough to get rid of it & weren't prepared to pay to have fixed, or attempted to have fixed and failed.

I am the 4th owner of a 3 year old car this is why I ask, Audi Demo, Guy 1, Woman 2, then me, I think the girl got rid because she couldnt afford it so settled up and sold. I did extensive checking on the car and found no history of problems and bought the car with warranty from a very reuptable dealer, so hoping i'm going to be ok.

Also I might add when I bought the car it had full audi warranty still and no history of issues, I still have 4 months basic warranty left also, I guess some people could get bored quick like me

I have bought cars from Redline before and they do tend to start off over priced, im telling you this you will be able to knock them down 2K from that price, I bought an Audi TT off them that was up for 10K and got them down to 7.5K a few years ago

Whatm do you not like about the Q3 out of interest?

Got the Q3 in January , the build quality is a huge step above my old A4 (B7) , and really can't pick fault with that side of it.
But its the first car I've had with an Auto box, and it really dosent do anything for me.
The most annoying thing is on the motorway, when trying to respond from 60 upto 70ish , You put your foot down, there is a half second delay till the box sorts out what it thinks you want to do. Then there is a load of revs, noise, no drama or decernable acceleration , and it cruise's up to 70.

Not my cup of tea

Traders.. what they like... couple examples...
  1. Friend traded in a Clio for a much more expensive Fiesta.. Trade in price was £800. Next day her car was up for £2400....
  2. Mini traded in at Mini garage £8.9k against a £18k higher spec Mini, on sale week later my old Mini for £12.2k!

So you see, they are trying it on/greedy.
I personally would walk away from a modified car because, as mentioned, do not know the depth of mods. Yeah agreed seats look like retro fit, wonder if belt tensioners work???
Before buying my A3 I plugged it into to VCDS to check for faults/mileage/ Chassis number etc.

It's a minefield, so choose wisely with your head.. NOT heart..

i can see what your saying my mother has bought a Q3 she loves it, I own a S3 and I get to drive the Q3 now and again for picking her up from a meal out with her friends or other odd occasions and its a very nice car the auto box is a bit slow like you said but I tend to drive it in manual mode so don't get the hesitation as much. But as soon as I get into my s3 again I just and you feel the boost kick in and realise what a great car it is then there's no contest between the two for me. Don't get me wrong the Q3 is a great car but it will always be the amazing S3 every time hope you get the car you won't.

Mate that's horrendously overpriced! When we bought our S3 we were looking at 61 and 12-plate ex-demo Black Editions for 26k!
Unfortunately modifications tend to mean a car sells for LESS than a standard equivalent on a forecourt...

Good work if you can get it lad ;)

Redline is overly priced for their cars. I would go some where else!!!!

I'd be tempted to snap this up! It's got solid paint!!:wtf:

Mine just keeps coming off in the rain.....

If you have that sort of budget go Audi Approved Used and get something either newer or for less!

Every car I see for sale at that garage makes me think DODGY!
I'd say it was a good £3k over priced.
I'm not convinced by most of the mods either.
It's probably been mapped too but by who?
It wouldn't be for me that's for sure.

Hit the nail on the head mate!!!

To be fair the garage is a good spot, live about 10 miles from it. Been a few times looking at cars there, they can be slightly over priced but aren't most garageS, that's what haggling is for isn't it.
They'll sell a few R8's and high end porches so I certainly wouldn't think of them as a back street dealer
