Hello everyone, new to this forum.

I have had a issue with my car. My local garage diagnosed that i had a P0601 error showing on my ECU. I went to Audi who told me I have to replace the ECU. I found a company that do this and I got a new ECU fitted. The problem is still very apparent while driving the vehicle. This is what happens:

1. The car seems un-responsive as if its in limp mode
2. When the revs reach around 2,500k the car shudders and wont boost, this persists through all gears.
3. It feels like the car is shuddering and is also backfiring

I have had the new ECU checked and there is no errors showing.

I'd really appreciate any response or information anyone has.

If there is a mechanic on here that knows the problem, please contact me as I really need this problem fixed.

diesel petrol ?
who checked the new ECU ?
was it new second hand
was it the same part number as the old 1

Petrol, the ECU was second hand, 100% standard and working and also the same part number. The ECU reprogramming company checked it. the new ecu has been plugged into a machine and there is no errors logged on it

any smoke at all any codes on new ecu
long shot but did you have the old ECU checked ?

No smoke is showing, the car just feels like it is in limp mode. I can hear the turbo spooling and it does when you rev out of gear. as soon as you put your foot flat down the revs build up then the car shudders and takes ages to go through the gear. If you hold it for too long the engine management light flashes for 5-10 seconds. There were no error codes showing on the new ecu after a test run experiencing this problem. There were a few check sum errors on the previous ecu and i have just asked the company to notify me if they still have those error codes to hand.

Really appreciate your help pal

have you checked coil packs spark plugs ?
may sound daft but coils make the EML light flash
if you still have the old ECU have it checked
audi can and do tell you a part needs changeing when its a diffrent problem.

Well audi told me in the first place that the actual problem was my ECU. they fobbed me off with 'the internals of your ecu are damaged'. the car does need a service and i did question the coil packs however my garage said that problem wouldnt do what the car is doing if that makes sense

where are you ?
it could do with logging
i cant see it been the ecu really as you have the same problem would be very unlucky for both ecu's to have the same problem

Well out of kindness the ECU company has sent me another ECU to try. I am in Berkshire, RG40

thats good of them hope it cures it
if not id be thinking fueling problem or a daft sensor

did you get this sorted ?
