Hi chaps,

I have a set of Bilstein B8s and H&R springs waiting to be fitted, but before doing so need to source some rear adjustable tie bars and also want to adjust my ARB set-up.

Now that S3dave is no longer able to supply his tie bars, what are people's suggestions for alternatives?

The latest Forge items look good to me, the KW versions look less sturdy and I've seen some ebay specials that look dire!!

Regarding ARBs, what thickness are the standard S3 front & rear bars? Meant to measure them today whilst doing the Haldex oil & filter and completely forgot! Suggestions for alternatives to get a bit more turn-in without ruining the ride?

Cheers lads.

Tie bar wise, I'd go for whatwver looks the chunkiest. I'm lucky enough to have daves which are extremely well made and definately strong enough.

As for arbs, standard is 19F 14R. I advise you get an R32 rear arb (19mm) and poly bush it, and poly bush the front. The 19F 19R is A. Very cheap B. Very effective in reducing the natural understeer. And C. Doesn't sacrifice comfort.

Wow, only 14mm standard on the rear? Unbelievable, almost not worth carrying the weight! Thanks mate. Might just get the R32 rear bar in that case.

Leaning towards the Forge bars, just the price that's a bit scary... In no rush though. Will wait until next spring and then give the suspension a complete overhaul (top mounts, bushes, shocks, springs, tie bars, ARBs), ready for the 2nd 100k miles!

Depending on how you want your car to handle Paul, you might want to consider a Golf4 V6 4Motion rear ARB, which is 16mm, if you plan to keep the front one standard 19mm.

just to add, my car simply will not understeer unless in the rain, in which case everyone drives sensibly anyway.
i was over the moon when i fitted my arb. the car is one the positive side of neutral, no understeer, but doesnt step out either.

ANyway, the aim of the game is to have a laugh and meet up, lets not get into this, it's not supposed to be a race.

Ha ha, I've logged on to A-S.net this evening, seen my thread and thought "ooh look, 17 replies now, let's see what's been suggested", and when I open it there's Westy and Superkarl pinching and pulling each other's hair! Brilliant! Can't wait for ADI even more now. Must make sure the camera's fully charged.

I find the H&R ARBs provide a very well balanced feel, if you want more oversteer then the Eibachs are a good choice.

As for tie bars the Forge ones really are top notch.

Let me know if you need any prices or info and we'll be happy to help.
