Well, seeing as no one I know actually knows I'm getting this yet....I thought I'd come on here to vent my excitement.

Pick this up on Thursday, MY10 S3, Black Edition. Delivered down from Leeds this morning, dealer hadn't had a chance to wash it but got me in to drive it anyway. Felt very nice, quick, solid. Dealer is still to fit RNS-e and Bluetooth though so didn't get to have a play with those thgough.

Not seen many with these wheels on but I think they suit it very well.

Sad to see my Golf go (if it ever sells), but love this one already.

i've seen one other with those wheels, and not to knock it, but it kinda makes it look like any other a3 black edition. Most of them come with those wheels. That may well work in ur favour if ur after something a bit stealthier. Debadge it and not many people will know the difference

Cheers for the comments all!

Thankfully its only the Black Editions from '10 that came with these (I think) - but tbh its like the newer Black Edition A3's on Rotors I keep seeing everywhere at the minute. Either way I think they suit the car and much prefer them to the silver 5 spokes that normal S3's came on.

Interesting you say that though - I've been doing the obligatory insurance quotes this evening and some (edit: scratch that, all) insurers have it being down as an A3 S-Line Black Edition TFSI, rather than an A3 S3 Black Edition. Out of interest, whats the difference between the 2 cars? Same block but just a difference in power? Any reason why they'd have it down wrong?

Anyway, the S3 comes out about £700 cheaper than the modified Mk4 Golf I drive at the moment, which is crazy!

Sometimes when they PDI the cars they put the wrong info down by accident and it gets registered to the DVLA like that. My boss had an old school A4 avant that had been PDI'd as an S4 by accident a couple years back.

Double check the V5 when you get it. Wouldnt want to get an A3 that's been kitted up to look like an S3.

Car looks ace though mate. Hope you enjoy it thorough.

Have a think about getting a tracker installed as a just in case.

There are many differences between the S3 engine and the standard 2.0T. K04 turbo, different fuel system, different internals to name but a few.

Regards to the wheels, they are just the standard Black Edition wheels from MY09 to MY11. From MY11 the rotors were fitted.

Cheers for the replies chaps. Dealer is calling me tomorrow to keep me updated with the RNS-e install so I'll get him to double check the paperwork too. Would there be any clues in the chassis number (the only way to be 100% sure...), I know on my Golf I can see everything down to which factory it was built in. I guess I just want an easy way to be sure its definitely what its been packaged as. Definitely a 2.0TFSI in the bay, but didn't drive it properly enough to tell the difference between 7.1 and 5.7 to 60. And I certainly didn't check the model number of the turbo ;)

Nice car.

I didn't think the original S3 side skirts could be fitted to the A3 ...am I wrong???

Intrigued to see how we'll dealer fits RNSE/Bluetooth!

Check that it all works before you take it away; can't see them fitting the booster amp in the boot so you're always likely to have a ZF to ground fault on Navigation on VCDS.

Lovely car by the way; nice choice.

Good choice.....you'll love it.

I thought all black edition S3's had RSNE's fitted as std kit?? My brouchure from around that period states this. Interestingly, it wasn't std fit on the s-line.

Gorgeous car mate. I am officially jealous. Would love a 3dr S3, have a baby though and getting her in and out of the back of my car all the while is tough, especially when she decides that she doesn't want to go in the car and just goes all rigid!
Its going to have to be an A4 or sportback for me next.

Enough of my life story though, great car :)

I think that was a little later on when that became standard on the S3 BE. Non BE S3 doesn't get RNS-e so it was never going to be standard on S-Line models.

Hummm...interesting though. I'm going to check today that the paperwork, and at least raise my concerns. Where the TFSI s-lines Quattro? I doubt if someones dressed it up to be an S3, they'll have bothered to fit the Quattro system to it too.

Edit: 'scuse my ignorance, whats BE stand for?

BE is just what we call Black Edition's on the forum. Saves all the typing :)

BE - Black Edition

If you ever wanted to put some other wheels on it, i'd be interested in the wheels you have on it. PM me :)

Hi There, Lovely S3, we bought a 2010 SB BE from manchester audi brand new and it came with exactly the same wheels, also it didn't come with nav as standard (put that in later) when i went back to change it to newer car found out that a few months after we bought the first one (April 2010) the Nav became standard from factory. Also in our new BE it has the Nav with the gloss surround which looks a lot nicer.

Quick way to check if its a dressed up S-Line; if Dump Valve is located under front right hand corner of engine bay it's an 'S', if its not visible it's likely to be an SLine as the S3's EA888 lump had relocated DV at front.

Can't see it's likely to be ringer, one of the people who live on our estate has a 4 door black S3 with those rims on a 59 plate.

Should have mentioned earlier that my car is down as different cars at different places.

For example, if I check my reg here it comes back as:

Your vehicle is either AUDI A3 2.0 TFSI 16V Quattro DSG, Sportback (BZC, CDLC - 188kW QG0/2) (200:cool: or AUDI A3 2.0 TFSI 16V Quattro DSG, Sportback (BZC, CDLC - 188kW QG1 Variable Service) (200:cool:.

It's not a sportback for a start and it is an S3 not an A3!!

I had this issue with a number of insurer's when I first got it!

In my V5C it is down as an Audi A3 S3 S-Line Quattro lol.

It's typical of everything that is wrong in the UK these days, i.e. no one does anything properly ;)

Yeh, I'm sure that I'm just worrying too much. Obviously I'm insanely excited at the minute so a bit edgy about things going tits up.

Good to know about the RNS-e not being standard fit early 2010, it is a 10 plate from around that time so that makes sense.

Just rang the Audi dealer, expected a call back to confirm the V5 docs.

+1.

When my insurer sent me first set of docs it was down as S-Line Quattro insurance so I phoned up and got them to amend the paperwork as next thing you know you're insurance is invalid! Didn't change price though.

Well, dealer rang to sort the driveaway insurance out, and I asked him to HPI it while I was on the phone. It came back as an S3, and he assured me it definitely was! I'll get a copy of the HPI check in my handover pack too.

RNS-e being fitted tomorrow! Can't wait :) Cheers for the comments all.

i wouldn't go by what that website says, put my reg in and I got the following

Your vehicle is either AUDI A3 2.0 TDi (103kW QG0/2) (2003-2006) or AUDI A3 2.0 TDi (103kW QG1 Variable Service) (2003-2006).

2003-2006 ????? For a start its 58 plate !!!
