B5 S4 FRONT BRAKE CONVERSION

Well, got my B6 S4 calipers the other day - paid quite alot in comparison to what some of you guys paid (£350) but they are very low milage and in mint condition.

Managed to order some plain discs from Eurocarparts for £125 including VAT using a discount code.

The calipers came with recently replaced Bosch pads - was originally going to wait a month to fit em so I could get some DS2500's but cant wait so im going to try out the Bosch pads - the way I see it is that if they are made to stop a 340bhp car then it should be hard work to fade them with a 200bhp 2.5tdi.

Hopefully fitting this weekend - just in the process of cleaning them up and spraying silver.

I got a full B5 setup, discs, pads, calipers etc, for £46!!

I don;t have any clearance issues to worry about though since I have 19s

Got mine fitted yesterday - I had to get new discs but used the Bosch brake pads that came with the calipers - done about 50 miles one them and the pads are only biting about 50% of the disc but the difference is night and day already - much better pedal feel and responsiveness (cant comment on braking power just yet as im still bedding in)

Also they get rid of the silly look of the smaller brakes having 19"s - next step coilovers and some Rotiforms (in a few months!)

Sweet !! The only prob is the rears look gay now....mine look like there's no disks on the rears lol

Alex, the pads are new or used?Anyway, look good!

Thanks! - the pads came with the calipers so are used.

I wasn't expecting the calipers to come with the pads, so wasn't going to fit the calipers for another month (until after payday so I could get some DS2500's)

Seeing that the pads in the calipers were pretty much new (Bosch) I pretty much decided to get the discs and fit the lot asap.
The pads took a while to match the face of the disc - but after 150 miles the pads sweep the whole surface of the disc.

Despite being standard pads - after a spirited drive last night they didn't fade / nor did I loose any pedal feel - so doubt I need DS2500s now - unless I do any track days.

Just about to order a complete B6 S4 front brake setup, I know the calipers and carriers bolt straight on but can anyone confirm if the 345mm discs will fit or will i need to fit the 320mm discs? They'll be going on my 1.9tdi Quattro Avant.

You will need the S4 discs too (345mm) - they will go on without issues.

Thanks Alex.

I wasn't sure. I've seen a couple of conversions on Audizine that have used 320mm discs and then on here a couple of people saying they have used the 345mm set up.

320mm brakes is the B7 brake conversion if I recall.

I have 312mm on mine and thought that was an improvement .....can only imagine the 345mm.

Still need to update the ECU to say I have the 312mm brakes.....gives better brake bias.

Well done.

Thanks Guys. Glad the 345mm will fit, they will look so much better and work a treat hopefully.
