Hi all, I had my remap done yesterday very pleased with it but I've now got in my head I won't to get fmic and ko3s turbo, if I got one of either of these this week would it mess up my map that I've had done?

Also if I did get a fmic would that mean I'd have to get rid of the silicone tip? And jetex cone filter? And are they easy to fit.

thanks Simon

FMIC check the stickies there is a proper long thread about it. But what it does essentially is keep the air intake temps lower meaning you can hold more power for longer without heatsoak. And no it wont mean you lose your tip and filter just your old SMIC.

If you put on the K03s it would need to be mapped again but the FMIC can go on and you wont need mapping for that but with it on a mapper can give the car bit more go as it has the lower AIT`s

I have read the stickies for the fmic but now a little confused lol, it says you would have to make n75 connector or something like that, I would be interested in buying one online tonight but just unsure how to fit it and the whole n75 thing confuses me, ( not that it takes much ).

I did this recently and if you buy a intercooler with 63mm outlets its pretty straightforward.

You need 4 x 90 degree silicone 63mm pipes.
2 x 90 degree alloy 63mm pipes
1 x alloy pipe joiner
and 10 x 60-75mm jubilee clips

then its just a case of bumper off remove old SMIC (or in my case on an S3 2 SMICs) mount the new core to the crash bar and then marry up the pipe work to where the old smic`s did.

my thread http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-forum-8l-chassis/168515-fmic-fitted.html

I didnt have to touch the N75 but maybe A3`s are different to S3`s

Once you have your FMIC and K03s fitted, Niki at R-Tech will tweak the map for you... pretty sure he won't charge you for a full remap just time to dial the new hardware in...

<tuffty/>

I'm just unsure where this n75 has to go or what connection is needed, as I can't find anything to get a picture of what to do, as the one in the stickies from prawn is on a aum mine is a AGU

Not even remotely close Bob  you're just confusing the man.

Grale: the write up I did for the AUM is identical to the AGU in all ways but one, the AGU setup doesn't require a MAP pipe splicing in, so it's even more simple.

Buy this kit:

FMIC VW GOLF JETTA MK4 1.8T TURBO INTERCOOLER KIT 2.25" | eBay

and one of these:

Brass Hosetail connector, 1/8” BSP to 5/16” / 8mm ID Hose, Fuel/Oil/Water | eBay

And some of this:

85G TUBE PLASTIC PADDING CHEMICAL METAL ADHESIVE / FILLER | eBay

Follow my guide, PM me if you get stuck :)

Would this turbo be a direct fit to my car? This is the item number on eBay 160797451449

Yes but no no no. Cheap rubbish.

I would rather take my chances with a genuine used K03s from a breakers than a knock off ebay special. It would be money thrown down the drain in 12 months time IMO.

Cheers prawn, the guy at r-tech said to get a fmic that has 2.5" tubing?

It all depends how far you want to go mate.....

If the ko3S is as far as you're going to go, that kit above, which has 2'' cold side pipes, will do you well.

If you want to future proof yourself a bit, then the Toyosports kit has 2.5'' pipework:

FMIC SEAT LEON 1.8T INTERCOOLER KIT 99-05 | eBay

I'm watching one on eBay that is a 2.5" I think I would be in favour of the future proofing myself lol,

I said in another post that I have recently split with my what was misses and she left me with a bit of credit card debts, so I can do some things to the car, just can't afford to go ko4 route at this stage,

im just not sure what to do first, I have 3 things I would like to do, ko3s, fmic and 312mm brake upgrade

I'd advise not going full st2 ko3's on an otherwise standard car. You'll end up with something that's quick in a straight line, that handles and stops like a bus.

why dont you enjoy your car for a while. if you do it all overnight you wont have time to enjoy it. pkus like prawn says if you dont sort the other bits first you will regret it. dovit the right way and you will love itvlonger i promise you. daz

So are you saying the brake upgrade is a good idea to? I do need to get new shocks as mine are on there way out, which I have H&R lowering springs on, I am toying with buying fk coilovers

I love the car and how it goes, I was thinking along the lines of getting some things now and some later to do over the winter, my car now brings a big smile to my face now when I drive it, I understand where your coming from, tbh I'd prob buy upgrade brakes for it first and the coilovers as they are prob more important, i just don't help myself at times as I'm inpatient lol

yea man, take a while to get used to the power you have now and upgrade other things around it. Do the brakes, and coilovers, and ARB's, and it'll transform the car all over again!

Last weekend I changed wishbones, drop links, track rod ends and the ball joints, I did order arb bushes but what came where to small lol, felt better haven't had time to get it aligned since tho, was thinking I'd leave it till I do the coilovers

Hi guys I'm looking at getting intercooler I'm looking at getting this on off Ebay, this is the the item number 181218905331 it's just the core. And I was reading through the intercooler thread in the stickies and from what I could gather from prawns bit for a3 regarding the pipes is as follows. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

cold side = 76mm 90 degree bend, 76mm 90 degree silicone bend x2, and 76mmx100mm long straight pipe.?

hot side = 76mm silicone bend, 76mm 90 degree silicone bend, 2x76mm 90 degree alloy bend, 76x300 straight alloy pipe, 76mm 45 degree alloy bend, 76mm straight silicone coupler and a 76-51mm reducer to go onto the turbo outlet.

does this sound right? I'll be going for 2.5" piping if possible . Or am I miles wrong?
