Hi, I would just like to introduce myself, my name is Steve and Iam currently looking to buy a 1.9 TDi B5
After a bit of research I have decided that Iam going to go for the 1.9 TDi rather than the V6, I would love the growl and the silky smoothness of a V6 but have heard that the 1.9s are a good bet for mods etc, any advice on buying one of these would be great, ie things to look out for, what to avoid etc.
From what I hear, the 1.9 is a bombproof lump, I had my doubts on a 1.9 in a heavyish car like the A4, but they seem to be adequate???
Iam going for the B5, purely as I love the styling of the earlier car, also heard the 2.0 TDis are not as strong, what sort of power increases could I expect to see on the 110 BHP engine and whats the best or first steps to make, Iam a mechanic by trade and have modded plenty of stuff in the past, mainly T5 Volvos, but I fancy a change and have been impressed by these 1.9 TDis for there economy and power, as I say, any advice on these would be great as Iam not very familiar with these cars, all the best Steve
PS: Great forum BTW
