Wire Scheme for Pre-facelift halogens to facelift LED Bi-xenons ? ?

I would need to have both modules in their cars and have sceen shots of both to compare, which i dont have access to right now.

Could you possibly list the different fuctions available so people interested in a new c/e know what each offers?

So Ash, I take it the adaptive are good?

The car I have just put a deposit on has them, just hope the sale happens!

The adaptives are immense on windy roads, make sweet fa difference on the motorway, but I have them on pre & facelift, great headlights & fitted a fair few now, always impresses me :)

Cool, ive been waiting for the right spec for a looooong time so lets hope this is the right car!

Out of interest, to activate the headlight washers, you just pull the lever towards you as normal but with the lights on yes?

Nothing happened when I did this, works on my Golf and did on my old A3

You have to hold the stalk for an extended period & they also will have a setting to delay between uses aswell.

What do you mean Phil? i have an F in mine and no issues!

only when the facelift coding starts comming into play lad, gotta remember im running pretty much every option bar front parking sensors

We r getting closer tothe end.. :D

Now;

A question popped up; my shutters are not working, BUT I did not code anything yet..

So is it normal? Will it be cool after we coded?

My module works fine by the way ASH :)

no point in asking questions about things that may or may not work if you havent completed the job... go ahead and fit it and code it and when it doesnt work come back with detailed info on what modules you have and what coding you have done.

I know I know.. I'm just very excited and the main reason why I asked;

I'll not be able to see the process untill NEXT friday. So I cant help wait patiently wait for a week more.. Sorry :)

As advised, you need to connect up all the wiring as per the schematics & then code, you wont get the desired effect until all this is done, as some wiring requires moving on the ce board aswell as adding.

Yup,

Aaaaall the shame is carefully done. All the lights & bulbs are okay, including the leds. But still the noise of the car is missing :D there are a lot of errors on the dash. And yes, we removed the CE module, plug the pin 11 by coming the plug A & D pins of the CE.

So it seems the CODING will be the latest thing.. I2ll let you know the result in the coming week.

Thanks for the helps again to all..

:)

Sorry to hi jack this post but how long would you say hold the lever on to activate them?

5-15 seconds with headlights on, depends what its coded for.

Does the k module give more options if you have the new white dis?
As i have already had this installed and need the c/e to remove my bulb/drl errors
Just wanting to know what they both offer if anybody can help

K is a 30 byte & the advanced comfort option is byte 24, so F wont support that option.

Am i correct that the k offers the following below compared to the f in the dis:

Displays-suggested gears(only auto?)
Lights turn signals-Dont know what this does
Wipers service position--Dont know what this does
Windows- Locks
Doors-Locks
Parking Aid options-Sound & frequency options

Im not too sure on the displaying gears, i would have thought that is done by the steering controller which on the DSGs is the 8P0 953 549 F

Lights turn signal? not sure again what that is. perhaps its the fog light that comes on when turning a corner but we found out that doesnt really work on the older cars anyway

service wiper... this works anyway, switch off the car and before you pull the keys out of ignition just push the wiper stalk

windows and door locks? that sounds pretty basic.

parking aid options, i can do this on vcds but not on the dis, this is probably as i dont have advanced dis options which as nigel said this comes on the K but not on the F.

As i previously said there are only a few options that come up on the k, personally as far as i could tell both look relatively the same apart from the advanced DIS options

Allot of features are determined by each systems control module version fitted, like advanced comfort may need the white dis cluster or the latest conv module, so its not just 1 module that adds all these options.

Havnt seen suggested gear work on any manuals we've upgraded with white dis, wont work on auto's anyway.
PDC may rely on the version of pdc module fitted.

Has any one fitted and coded a f module after doing a conversion to the xenon led drls/white dis from halogen lights/red dis?

Why you asking?

I have done the facelift conversion and also added the white DIS about 2 years ago, I always believed only the 8p0 907 279 K c/e module would work on pre facelift cars until reading this thread...is this a new discovery???

Still dont get your point, but anyway there was a crossover point where pre & facelift cars used the older CE module, hence why there is a coding option for bixenons with led drl's in byte 21 drop down.

Just want to know if it works and if some one has sucessfully fitted it with the same set up as myself???
In the past everybody who completed the facelift conversion used the K but this is good news for all who want to do the facelift conversion a lot of members should thanks youz lot

i know for a fact that f throws a wobbler with cornering lights and drl's

so if youre opting for the afs led's then youll get that same wobbler

whats the way to fix it then Phil? apart from replacing it

I know the F does prefacelift adaptive bi-xenon so why would it cause an issue with post-facelift headlights? its just the headlight that changes, no?

Signals sent/received from the modules do seem to change over the releases, as the levelling controllers me & Phil have been testing for an issue, which was resolved with a revision I found, cause using the identical headlights & control modules in the headlights from 09-12 wouldnt work with a certain year car without a specific levelling controller release.

so if youre opting for the afs led's then youll get that same wobbler

So the f would not work with drls?

F appears to work yes.

am confused now...Does it or does it not work with the xenon leds?? my car is a 54 plate and had halogen lights from factory if that matters?

It depends on the module fitted, this has been advised numerous times now to you mate, try it with the F if already fitted, if you have issues, upgrade it to a higher/newer version, it doesnt get much more simple than that.

I dont have a f already or i would try,I have a c
I would like to buy the correct part the 1 time, reason being why i would like to know whether a f or k would work
A guess a k would definatly work whereas a f might work

The K was 300 GBP here in Turkey..

I'm glad that mine leds & low beams r running.. I'll see the bi-xenon shutter also will work or not on Friday and let you know after CODED it..

you get a rouge parking light dis issue when you use an f ce with cornering lights, fyi to all this has no bearing on the levelling unit fitted ie pre 09 post 09 and post my10

ok so that is the non cornering version.

since you have a pre-facelift electrics module and thats what the headlights is wiring into so the wiring you need to do should be as follows:

Original connector
new connector
Pin 1- headlight range control
Auto leveller control module
Pin 2 - headlight range control
Auto leveller control module
Pin 3 - headlight range control (ground)
Auto leveller control module
Pin 4 - Not used
Auto leveller control module
Pin 5 - Ground
Ground
Pin 6 - Dipped Beam
Dipped Beam
Pin 7 - Ground
Ground
Pin 8 - High Beam
Not used
Pin 9 - Indicators
Indicator
Pin 10 - Side lights
side light
Pin 11 - High beam shutter
Pin 12 - DRL
Pin 13 - Not used
Pin 14 - Not used

So to get your lights working you would need to wire the connector the following:

Pin 1 (new connector, run a new wire) -> Pin 12 of the auto leveller controller
Pin 2 (new connector, run a new wire) -> Pin 19 of the auto leveller controller
Pin 3 (new connector, run a new wire) -> Pin 16 of the auto leveller controller
Pin 4 (new connector, run a new wire) -> Pin 18 of the auto leveller controller
Pin 5 (Original connector) -> Pin 5 (new connector)
Pin 6 (Original connector) -> Pin 6 (new connector)
Pin 7 (Original connector) -> Pin 7 (new connector)
Pin 8 (Original connector) -> Pin 12 (new connector)
Pin 9 (Original connector) -> Pin 9 (new connector)
Pin 10 (Original connector) -> Pin 10 (new connector)
Pin 11 (new connector, run a new wire) -> CECM (left side headlight to plug D pin 6, right side headlight to plug A pin 5)

That should then get the lights all working as per oem.

Sorry for hi-jacking this thread but I thought I'd post here than in any other thread that I've been reading through so far as this post by Ash is what I think would be valuable to the retrofit that I'm doing.

The pin assignments are for a pre-facelift model and mine is a facelifted 2009+.

I've looked at the wire colours on the 10-pin connector in the car as I was already getting ready to peel the wrap off the adapter that was supplied to me (was advised that custom made one out of OEM VAG connectors and pins) and start tracing it wire-per-wire and pin-to-pin. Here's what I found however I don't know what each of these wires do:

Pin Number --- Driver side --- Passenger side
1 --- Black/yellow --- Black/white
2 --- Grey/yellow --- Grey/yellow
3 --- Brown --- Brown
4 --- Grey/Red --- Grey/black
5 --- Brown --- Brown
6 --- Yellow --- Yellow/black
7 --- Brown --- Brown
8 --- White --- White/black
9 --- Black --- Black/white
10 --- Empty/not used --- Empty/not used

With the empty/not used pins differing from those that Ash posted (pin 4) and in the connector in my car (pin 10), the pin assignments could be different and couldn't use this directly for my wiring needs.

My car by the way is a November 2009 build A3 sportback. Part number of my CEM is 8P0 907 063A - I've checked with VCDS and looks like it can be coded for bi-xenon headlights.

Any help would be appreaciated.

I was off work sick today so had a good look at the following:
(1) Existing 10-pin connector (wire colours with corresponding pin number) at the end of the ehadlight wiring loom in my car
(2) Wires and pin numbers on both ends of the adapters that was supplied to me
(3) Wiring diagrams in Elsawin

Then I put everything in a spreadsheet and have pasted the table below.

I haven't stripped the wrap on the adapter or used a tester to trace pin to pin but based on this table, the connections to the dipped beam and turn signal lights (and earths) are correct. So in theory, if I plug the headlights into the car using the adapter (without having to wire the 4 wires for the LED DRLs and the main beam shutters) then code it using VCDS, the dipped beam should work? I have plugged it from before without coding and the turn signal worked. The dipped did not fire-up even for a few seconds though (as a number of members here and in the US forums have experienced - dipped beam will light up for a few seconds before tripping an error) and just triggered a bulb-out error on the DIS. Some advice on this please as at this point, I just wanted to know if the D3S bulbs and ballasts works thus I want to test them (if not I've no choice but to buy new ones).

I followed this other guide (http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-sportback-8p-chassis/115699-wiring-bi-xenon-advice.html) and I think based on table below, my wiring would be exactly the same as what ~RS~ did, apart from him using a Kufatec adapter which in his case (through his difficulties) was spot on plug and play.

Another problem that I found with the adapter is that the wire at Pin 8 of the 10-pin connector of the adapter is thin whereas Elsawin wiring diagrams requires these to be thick wires. Something that can be sorted later I guess to make the LED DRLs work (I'd probably need to buy repair wires and take the adapter apart and swap pin locations). Also, the adapter have got a white thin wire at Pin 14 whereas Elsawin shows this pin is vacant.

Looks like a fair bit of tracing and modification needs to be done on the adapter.

Am I on the right track here?

What adapter did you get and from where? i have never had to do this much messing around on any upgrade when using adapters unless i make my own looms up.

Hi Ash

PM'ed you.

After a couple more hours research into Elsa and actually removing the wrapping that holds the adapter wires together, I think I've got the where the 10-pin connector wires lead to the the 14-pin connector end of the adapter, etc. Below is the updated spreadsheet. If you can PM me your email addres, I can email the full spreadsheet that I've done so far. If i get this right (with some help), I will surely post the full details here in ASN (and in my local forum OzAudi as well) to hopefully help others as there are a lot of threads here about this but most were left unfinished after the OP's have completed the retrofit (or maybe not!).

Based on this, I think the dipped beam will be wired in once I plug the adapters (with both the halogens and xenon headlights wiring in Elsa showing the same pin assignment in the CEM). Without having to properly wire in the 4 extra wires into the CEM (i.e., the wires for the main beam shutters and LED DRL triggers), would I be able to test lights to see if at least the dipped beams will work? Maybe I need to code the CEM first before I test it (so that the dipped beam circuitry is coded for xenon, not halogen, and hopefully will power up the xenon dipped beam and not cut-off the power)?

As I noted earlier, I've plugged it once without all these checks and without coding anything using VCDS and:
(1) The turn signal lights worked
(2) The dipped beams did not fire up even for a few seconds (like what a lot of people who have done this retrofit said happened after plugging directly without coding). It just threw a bulb out error on the DIS nearly straight away.
