So at 12ish last night I was bored, what should I do? I know ill have a steady trip to scarborough and back.

The gauge was just on red so I put £20 in her, reset mpg counter and set off, I did something really odd and kept to the speed limit all the way (maybe 80mph for a few mins).

It was really great, no traffic, no stress and just cruising.

Got to Scarborough after not seeing one car on the way, keeping to the speed limit and doing superb gearchanges (so odd for me lol)

Any way I parked up on the spa car park 60 odd miles from home and checked figured on my dis and this is what I saw - Range (it was at 160 when I set off)

SAM 2029

Trip time:

SAM 2030

Avrage speed:

SAM 2032

Now the big one avrage MPG:

SAM 2031

Wow, now I know some of you will say yeah it's telling lies BUT look at the fuel gauge that was just touching (below) the halfway mark when I left and in the pic it only had moved a couple of mm, the fuel gauge is independant of the MPG calculator so no lies :)

I have a boost leak too but as I wasnt flooring it, it diddnt obviousley cause an issue.

41.3 MPG is one of the best figures i have seen on an A3 1.8t for a genuine run, ok no traffic and keeping to speed limit but it shows what's acheivable.

On the way back however I cained it lol, ended up getting home with petrol light on and 15 miles on the range lol

Not bad for a 12 yr old car I think!

Not bad lad.... Perfect time to go to Scarborough. Least you don't have to put up with the tractors, lorries, trucks, caravans and the Sunday drivers along the A64.
Cant say I won't get that in mine. I'm originally from Leeds but moved over to Wakefield last year. Would be good to meet up with some fellow A3/S3 owners, as I'm new to Audi's

There again I did Wakefield to the Deep (Hull) and back on roughly £20 last week cruising around 70mark. That's in 260ish bop S3

Very nice mate. But seriously, wtf, driving to scarborough on a sat night, you should have been busying getting **** faced lol. Did you take the misses or go on your tod?

Mark where abouts in wakey are you?

Tell me bout it, best time to go most places though, I just can't drive like that normally though, it would send me nuts!

Aww your an audi virgin? I lost mine to audi back in feb/march so glad i did, yes I have had loads of problems (pipes breaking etc) but i'm slowley getting through the list, health wise I think it's just the dreaded boost leak that needs sorting, I know where the ****** is it's just having time and the right bits to do it. mod wise not alot so far but that will get there too.

Welcome to the forum too I notice your new on here, you should find everything you need on here plus more!

I cant beleive you have defected to wakey from Leeds! What has wakey got that Leeds hasnt? Except up for it birds and the westgate run? lol.

Were trying to arrange a Yorkshire meet, but its going slow and in circles atm, if you fancy a ultra mini meet, ie me n thee then i'm sure we can arrange something.

The missus was as per usual ****** (long alcoholic story) one of the reasons I went for the drive, I wish I could get **** faced but I havent drank for 18 months not after seeing what it does to someone overtime lol (again long story, But i really do wanna get ****faced lol).

I went on my own as you prob gathered, I had a better conversation with the steering wheel than I would have with her lol.

Long story about moving to Wakefield. New start with new girlfriend.... Still Leeds through and through!

Use to meet at The Station pub in Crigglestone when I use to attend Ford Focus Owners Club. Just off junction 39 of M1. Handy for anyone coming from Leeds, Wakefield, Sheffield, Bradford, Huddersfield and surrounding areas of Yorkshire. Basically it's in the middle f Yorkshire. Friendly quiet pub, and if you explain to them it's a decent bunch of car enthusiast, they do welcome you and normal do a few sandwiches if you agree a night and time.

Where abouts is that? Im from barnsley!

God your a better man than me mate, i couldnt go 18 days with out a drink haha.

I dont beleive it I was in the ffoc and at a meet at that pub, ill put a pic up in 10 mins see if yours is there ha ha

FfocIs your focus one of these? mine was the one in the middle alone

No but that's Stews ST2 at the front. I've been a few times in past 2 years and few times when they use to do it at post office.

My username was Mark_focus_zetec. Use to have 2.0 ESP then went onto RS Clio 172 Cup, Mk5 GolfvGti and then Focus ST170 and now the S3

The Station is defo a place for a meet.

lol, its funny though I used to go out n drink beer, alcopops and spirits tankers full and still stand and be sort of ok. Now a pint makes me slur and bed time lol.

I'm always impressed with my fuel economy if I'm careful. Fitting cruise control is definitely on my to do list. I can't help but think that it will make my fuel economy consistent and will pay for itself pretty quickly too :)

Best I got was a genuine 39 to the gallon brim to brim on a long run.

i think i may have mentioned this in the past, but i took the S3 from home up to Milton Keynes on the M25 and averaged about 43mpg. Doing speeds of between 50 and 90 on a sunday at around 3pm. Obviously driving like a saint and feather like on the throttle. This was a few years back and not done such a long journey since then. Around town I'm only getting 25mpg. But then again my journey's are so short the car has just enough time to warm up !
And let's not forget you can probably knock a few mpg off that as I simply think this is not overly accurate unless you fill to the same point every time and work it out for yourself with the miles covered.

It would have been about 2 to 3 yrs now since i saw any of the lads n lasses get rid of the focus beginning of last year mine was a 2.0 ESP too, then I went to a redtop c20xe corsa (which frightened the life out of me) and now my A3 AUM K03s 1.8t (would have got an S3 but ididdnt have a clue about Audi's at the time).

Have they sorted the car park out there? it was pot holed to hell when I used to go, and is the resident cat still there? (i was attacked by it and next day ended up in hospital!)

on the way back from R-Tech yesterday on a long **** drive i was getting 51.4mpg. i went out in the a3 today and give it some beans and it dropped to 47.8mpg hopefully it will stay at 47mpg but i doubt that lol

Yeah the cruise is on my list too, like you say it should save some money and pay for it's self.
