Hi guys, i'm another new forum user looking to buy a b6 1.9TDI QS!

Being a mechanic by trade, i've done my research and read through previous threads requesting information on buying them, before going to view my first one today. I'd just like some feedback on whether you believe the car is worth the asking price of £4K.

It's a Silver Avant that's coming up to nearly 150K. Fully stamped service history (all Audi up until the last two). Turbo has been replaced in the last 20K. It drives straight and feels solid. It also has the GmbH Kit with twin exhaust rear (on a tdi?!), upgraded 18" RS4 alloy wheels, Xenons, Sports seats, Full Electric Windows/Mirrors, Heated/Auto Dimming Mirrors, Rear Parking Sensors 2 Keys. 3 months tax remain, MOT until May 2013. Some of the interior and controls were starting to show there age a bit. All of the panels a dent/crease free, but with the odd scuff that can be buffed out. The only other concern i have is there is there is some rust coming through in places caused by stonechips. Can i get them sorted reliably? I'm used to rusting fiesta's but don't want to spend a shedload on getting that sorted to. If you could let me know your opinions i'd be greatful!

Welcome to the forum!

I can't offer you too much price advice as it's not really my strong point, but I'm sure someone with more recent buying experience will be able to help. £4k for 150k isn't 'cheap', but it sounds a good buy with a good spec.

All quattro diesel models have the exhaust exit either side.

Thanks for the quick reply! And apologies for posting in the b5 forum. Doh!
I'd like to think it's a good deal but the seller isn't in any rush as he knows what he's got. I'm just not sure if I should jump at it. I've made the mistake of buying the first car I've seen more than once before and I'm still trying to work out how often these come up.

Do they? all the quattro's ive been looking at have no exhaust showing. I was under the impression only petrols have exhaust showing.

Diesels have the twin exhaust outlets but not showing. I believe one of the mods is to cut the bumper and make it visible.

oooh nice, so cut the bumper and have some tips welded on?

sorry for hijacking the thread. Will start my own

Either that or I believe you can fit the twin pipes from the petrol model - sure if that's wrong someone will correct me :)

I said they have an exit either side, I didn't say it was visible ;)

To clarify, in the diesel range only quattro models have an exit either side, and they are indeed downswept with no bumper cutouts. 1.8T, 2.4 and 3.0 petrol models have exits either side, with visible tips.

While you could fit a petrol tip, personally I wouldn't as the tips are 'relatively' small at about 60mm from memory. Aftermarkets tips tend to look more purposeful.

Not sure why you want to have it shown on a diesel lol.. the old disappear in a cloud of smoke trick? :p

I just looked at one today and never even noticed lol. I do think the rear looks more complete with the exhausts showing though.

I like the smoke trick thing !!!

Hahaha. Mine is that's At the lights

Smoked a ford ST .....

oooh pink.teg your spec in your sig looks good. you have a build up? is the teg name honda related?
