Gauging interest - team dynamics pro race 1.2 - potential group buy

It turns out prawn doesn't have any TD wheels like I thought bu the 2 sets of 17x8 wheels he has are both ET35 and they clear his brembos. I think ET20 for anyone wanting 17x8 should be fine an fill the arches nicely.

I was going to say, I thought he had oz superturismo wheels. Well if he's running et35, I think I might have to change mine to et25, even then might need my arches rolled (only have an a3)

Possibly price dependant -

Pro race 1.2
Silver or anthracite
18 inch
Front 8J
Rear 9J
5x100
ET 20 (Front and rear)
Centre bore 57.1

motorsport wheels tend to be designed with brake clearance in mind, my 17x8's are both et35 and both clear my brembos and the porsche 996 brakes with LOADS of room to spare. TD PR1.2's are very similar and have loads of clearance so I'd be confident that anything ET30 or less will clear without issue.

Offset will also be down to tyre size / type you want to run also, I could probably get away with ET30 on mine with my 225 yoko track tyres, but ET25 would almost certainly rub front and rear. ET25 with a 225 road tyre wouldn't be an issue at all though.

I'd love to be in on this, as a set of TD wheels is just what I need, but too much money going into fixing other bits at the moment!

D'oh!

Still, if it comes back at £300 a set I'll go and water my money tree extra regularly to get in

Good info Prawny. I think once we get a cut out of wheel dimensions everyone will change their ET numbers.

So you think that ET20 would rub with my yoko 225 A048s? I might need to re-think my measurements. Problem is I'm so fed up of buying wheels that won't clear the callipers and I only have 1 shot at these wheels.

depends on the s3 arches mate. For mine I'd like to say I'd have ET25 for the look but I think it'd rub. ET30 wouldn't rub and gives more clearance than ET35. On the S3 arches ET20 might be a go-er, but I just don't know.

Et25 would be a fairly safe bet I think

My RSTT's are 18x8, ET33 and on the front with 10mm spacers fill nicely... this would make them ET23... on the rear with 15mm spacers though there is a slightly larger gap... I would say a 20mm spacer might get them the same as the fronts but without trying there is no way to know if they would rub...

As Prawn has said, 8" wide wheel and ET20 maybe tight on the front but should be ok on the rear, ET25 is a safe bet enabling the use of a small spacer if required... imo...

I'll throw my hat in with my locale Colly, although I'll be asking for Pro Race 1.2 the 'comfort' 17" in anthracite with no spacing. Haven't a clue which width or offset to go for yet but they will seldom be seeing a track. Please do let us know what they can do on price.

Pro Race 1.2
Probs better off sticking to standard.
Size : 17"

Width: 7.5j
Offset : et 35
Stud pattern : 5x100
Colour : Anthracite

P.S. I've just been looking through the range and would really love a slightly wider 7.5/8 on the:

Only will be in if come in at a really good price as money should be spent elsewhere on the build but just for curiosity (really wanna get me track tyres off of the A8 reps) ;)

Pro race 1.2
18" 8j
5x100
Et 25
Silver of some description

Seeing all these people wanting silver wheels makes me strangely tempted to lose all the stickers and go back to silver wheels for the classy look again. haha.

:sign_ot: sorry!

Been thinking and have changed my mind as to size!!

Size : 17"

Width: 8j
Offset : et 30
Stud pattern : 5x100
Colour : Anthracite

Looks like that is potentially 3 sets to the Isle of Man

after these

Pro race 1.2
18" 8j
5x100
Et 32
Anthracite
Centre bore 57.1

westy so if i go for the et 25z they will clear the brembos and fill the arches mate with 20mm rear spacer and 10mm front thanks

Using 10mm spacers on an ET25 wheel will give you an effective ET of 15mm... they will stick out 10mm more than they do already and most likely rub the arches...

No idea on the calipers as this is subject to the design of the spokes... look at it this way... OEM RSTT 18x8 wheels are ET33... with 10mm spacers they are ET23... going ET25 with no spacers looses 2mm clearance...

Worst case is you need maybe a 3mm spacer for the brakes if the spokes clip the caliper... all wheels are different.. Bill posted info on caliper clearance here... http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-...ibiza-mk3-brembo-calipers-s3.html#post1674643

Thanks pal iv got to run at least 5mm spacer as the wheels now won't go on so now I'm thinking of going et 32 and if that don't work then I'll sell em on

So sorry guys, haven't had chance to phone them today. I am technically on holiday at the moment, so please forgive me. I will 110% phone them 1st thing tomorrow morning and get prices. Just to confirm that I have the right sizes for the right people, forget colours for now as that will make sod all difference when it comes to price.

Hi Munchy,

Sorry, mine should be black color (i know you said don't worry about that yet, but just for my sanity's sake lol) and ET25...Looking at my PM to you I did specify ET15, but that was a typo!!! meant to say ET25. me = dumbass lol

To be honest mate, ive got 2 lists written up, one that I've posted and another with all your names separately with colour requests

After reading a few posts i may change my ET to ET25. Westy what you think?

Haha munch can you chnage mine to ET25, sorry pal lol.

None gazz, i refuse to run them, one being is added weight the s3 doesnt need, as westy said this is why i want custom made wheels so i dont need spacers but they still fill the arches nicely.

OK - If it helps anyyone making their mind up, as an indicator I bought 4 18“ ProRace 1.2 8J ET45 112x5 57.1mm in Anthracite/Satin Graphite (sort of eggshell finish) for £114+VAT each from Rimstock a couple of years ago.
DON'T FORGET YOU NEED TO ALLOW FOR A FITTING KIT AS THEY USE CONICAL WHEEL BOLTS.

YOU'LL ALSO NEED SOME CONICAL LOCKING WHEELBOLTS TOO SO MAYBE NEED A McGARD GROUP BUY!

Thanks for the info. What size wheels did you get? Also what price is the fitting kit? I'm not fussed about locking nuts as these wheels will only be fitted for track days.

Doh! Forgot the most important bit. They are 18s and currently on an A6 allroad. Think they would look better on my black A4 B7 Avant though.

The price inluded the fitting kit, but its just worth making sure this is factored into the deal rather than coming as an extra when you might have lost your bargaining power!

My best deal was with a set of 1.2s fitted with crappy Kumho 195/45 16s in gloss black for £100 each from Halfords and used for trackdays with my 172 Cup. They're now gracing a bright yellow Felicia Fun.

Hi Chaps.

Count me in - as long as it's a decent discount.

I think I want the same as Andy1.8T - something standard for my S3!

*** But if ET25 will fill the arches a bit better on the S3 and won't rub/touch??? I would be interested in ET25 instead ***

It's a shame they don't come in bright pink, would set my Dolphin grey off nicely. Guess Anthracite it will be then ...

Ta, Liam

the most frustrating thread to read EVER.

im on the fence with this, hence the lingering, dont want to say yes and not commit.

Hey fella, I'm not asking you to commit to anything, alls I'm asking is, if you were to buy a set, what spec of wheel would you order? This isn't a case of if your names down, I'll send the heavies round to get the money.
i need the specs so I can get a price tailored for the wheel you want.
thanks.

No worries - thanks for your time on this. Looking forward to the prices - bloomin' part timers ...

... only problem with this ... there's going to be a lot of S3s on Pro Race 1.2 wheels :) common as muck!
