Hey all got a couple of issues that i'm hoping one of you wise lot might be able to help with

1) Does the s3 have an audible alarm ie does it make a sound when you activate it? Is it switch off and onable.....

2)On the Windscreen there is a piece of rubber along the top of my s3 that is perishing can this be replaced and if so is it a case of having the windscreen removed?

Thats all thanks for any advice in advance.

The alarm is audible mate but isn't very loud. It's similar to an alarm clock beep. I your lights flash but there's no noise when the alarm is triggered you'll probably have a ******** Alan module. I've gone through 2 already!

The piece of rubber will need to be replaced when the windscreen is out.

Arm the car with the window down, wait a minute then go windmilling in with your hand through the open window,,,,you should trigger the alarm and here the casio watch alarm....;)

You can turn the beep on or off through VCDS When arming/disarming

Can you get the alarm to beep once when locking/unlocking car at all?

Yep, with VCDS, you can set it up so that it beeps once as confirmation it's locked.

On mine, you can't make it beep on unlock though.

No it'll only beep when armed. Some of the older A3s sound the horn instead of beeping which just sounds strange!

That would be strange!

My brothers 55 plate Leon CR beeps twice on unlock, but then I notice his car has a central convenience module (46?) and the S3 doesn't, so maybe that's why.

The unlock beep isn't as useful as the lock one anyway, it just let's you know it's locked as you walk away, which is good.

I set the alarm beep on an ASN memebers A3 and when the horn started sounding he asked me to turn it off lol.

All the newer VAG cars have great menus within VCDS now and they are a lot more user friendly and more options available. One of my favourites I saw on a mates Golf ED30 was a feature that made the hazard lights come on automatically if you did an emergency stop. Good for when throwing on the anchors when hitting traffic on a motorway.

My wife has just taken delivery of a brand new A3 Black Edition, and the options in the DIS are like a mini VCDS!

Things are certainly moving on, and it's more user friendly to be able to change a few options using the steering wheel controls rather than having to get a laptop out.

Thanks for the alarm info.

Sorrry for my ignorance and thanks for your help!!
