Hi all,

Took a liking for a green s3 round the corner of my work and set my heart on finding 1, as luck would have it, 1 completly standard, low mileage example turned up less than a mile away at a garage and after abit of bartering i walked away with it, trading in my clio sport at the same time.
Now the funny thing is, iv had this car since febuary, i have not seen another goodwood green s3 on the road since, i thought they were rare, but does anybody know how many were made in this colour?

Not sure how many were made in Goodwood green, i've only seen one in the metal before. It belongs to the mother of a customer we do work for, i think they have owned it since new but the paintwork is the worst i've seen, you would think they'd used scotchbrite pads to wash it:laugh:

Not many is the answer, it's not a very desireable colour from the outset, but desireable now as they are rare! Along with original White ones which I've only ever seen one for sale, and it had factory cloth Recaro's instead of leather?!

Believe it or not, the first ever S3 I saw was a Green one, and the chap talked me into buying one a few months later! Not seen him in a while though....

my mums A3 is goodwood green and there's another identical one living locally. apart from that, never seen another.

there is a preface lift one buy me.
i think i should start one of these threads ive yet to see another orange 1

I have a goodwood green 2001 S3 and so far have never seen another...

Green cars in general are never too popular. Do you remember the original impreza came in a similar green with gold wheels and they always fetched less cash when it came to selling.

I have one. wooo!

However, it seems green is a **** to sell.... Nobody likes it.

mate at work has a green one, with the white leather interior - looks nice

I think i've seen one in this colour. I presume it's a metallic green colour ?
It was sparkling in the summer sunshine and looked really good.

i think cleaned with a good layer of wax on they come up a real deep green colour, mines all black inside so its a fairly dark horse :) yeah i do think i will struggle to sell it, good thing is though it is still in standard form, so i guess it will apeal to the older generation lol

I certainly wouldn't say no to a minter Goodwood Green S3.:kissmyrings:

Got to be honest here, there's nothing wrong with Goodwood Green ones, but when you can buy a Noggy Blue one for the same money, I know which one I would buy!

I've only seen a goodwood green S3 at AITP but not on the road, but then I've not seen many S3 on the road either. I never seen another Cactus Green (colour of mine) which is lighter and more metalic than goodwood. I dont think Cactus green was an option for the facelift.

Goodwood Green is a pearlescent (like Noggy and Misano) which is why it cleans up so well. Rare I think because it's considered "old man" and personally not to my taste for a sporty hatch - however just because I wouldn't buy one I think they are still very nice mules (especially with a white/cream leather) - Mmm....

Definatly a lads colour, no girls like it haha. Asking me why i had a boggie coloured car?! Sorry i dont know what colour yours are but mine are certainly not goodwood green!! Iv always been 1 for the not so commen coloured cars though..

All this talk of goodwood green and I want to see a nice one again.
Come on someone get a posting showing it it's full sunshine gleaming glory.

Btw, I wouldn't touch a white interior or 2 tone. It would have to be black leather all the way, even in a green S3.

Yep, I think Cactus was only around for the 6 months from launch (along with Ochre, Hibiscus, Mocha and White).
Here are the launch colours:

oh....and you have the chrome mirrors...lovely. so refreshing to see an unusual colour after seeing so may of the other usual colours- and that includes the noggy blue., which I think personally is not as rare.

seeing it like this makes me want to go home and get the polish out haha. thanks for your comment thegoal.

Lovely, just needs a Rover badge on it now to finish it off! ;)

Seriously though, it's great to see a rare colour S3 and one that looks like its outwardly pretty much as Audi intended it?

I do prefer S3's to look standard, but each to their own, and I can certainly appreciate some of the more modded ones out there. Only some of them mind...

I had a similarly coloured Mk1 TT a few years back, always used to attract favourable comments, especially when it was clean.

Come to think of it, I had a BMW 320d in dark green too back in 2000, crikey, I guess I like green! :)

I think good wood is a really nice colour, it's a "sporting heritage" colour isnt it? Back to the days of British racing, even though its a German car! I think for a lot of people in England darker greens act as a reminder for racing cars! I had a E46 330i BMW coupe and that was in green, looked really good on a bright day!

Change of life style and heart is pushing this car out of my needs, it will be up for sale in the next month or 2 after i have had the cambelt changed.
if anybody is intersted inbox me and i will send you more details, dont want to break rules putting prices etc up on here. thanks guys, will be sorry to see it go!

wow, hold on a sec. But didn't you just buy this a week ago ??????

you do realize how this sounds.

no nooo, i brought it in febuary dude (in the 1st post its in there somewere) :) since then i moved in with my gf, have a company car, and i race stockcars and want to look at moving into a bigger more expensive class so this would aid that. :)

oops , so you have. Apologies. It was hidden in there.

I understand a lot can change in 7 months !

Dont't like this colour on an S3, but I do like the fact that it's quite rare. I think it accentuates the undersized 17" rims though.

I would agree, but it would look super cool with different (bigger) wheels - less rubber more metal showing.

....but then again wouldn't most !

i agree, but now its going to be going soon, any idea's i had for it have changed, these were what i was after though:
4x Genuine Rotiform BLQ 18x8.5" Alloy Wheels (5x100 et45) Audi A3 (8L) & TT MK1 | eBay
i drove it last night, as iv took it off road this month to keep the miles down, i just fell in love with it again :(

You will need 10mm spacers minimum, for them to clear your front strut, wrong offset. These wheels only look good on lowered cars in my opinion.

LOL jojo, i wouldnt of left it sky hi :p infact if i had brought them, they wouldnt of gone on until it was lowered. Very nearly brought a kit the weekend, but thinking leaving it standard would sell it better, i know i prefer to buy a car that hasnt been messed with (unless it had a good name behind it or lots of paperwork to show its history) the other set of wheels would have been s4 alloys. i was brought up around shirley mate, but moved to bromsgrove recently, possible i might know you through other people..

in the sun light it goes abit lighter, which isnt its best shade, in the evening, or when the sun isnt directly on it as above is when it looks its best as it's really deep green.

True, I find that too with the Noggies - in the sunlight they are bright blue but in darker lights they look almost (dare I say it) - purple! Must be the pearl effect I guess.

That sums up better what i meant!
