Hi Guys,

Just bought my first Audi - a 2009 S3 with 32k on the clock from Northampton Audi.

I've been really pleased with the car...however...I am a bit concerned about clutch vibration / feedback that I am getting through all gears. It is most noticeable at low speeds, and is obvious at the biting point. Its almost like a pulsing sensation, or like feedback from the engine. As I said I am new to Audi's and no almost jack about mechanics so hopefully I am just being paranoid?!

I'm stressing a bit because my faithful old oil burning ford mondingo bit the dust because of the DMF issue, and this feels similar...not something I would expect from a 3 1/2 year old car worth a sh1t load more than the old dingo!

Any advice would be great. I've only had the car 2 weeks, and I am thinking of popping it back in to the dealer to take a look, but wanted to check that it isn't just a common "feature" on S3's.

Thanks a lot for looking at the post.

Matt

DMFs are the same whatever the car although generally they last a bit longer in petrol engined cars.

If it's been remapped or ragged then it could well be on the way out although they can last a lot longer.

I'd suggest a visit to a good tuner for the last word on that as a main dealer may not be as useful in fault finding although if you have a warranty it would be best to use that.

I think it's a common thing. Mine does the same, 2007 S3 8P with 27k on the clock. I took it back to the dealer and they said it was normal. I think i've read other posts on here describing the same thing. I've had mine for a bit over a year and it still feels the same.

Cheers guys. I've decided I'm going to pop it in to the main dealer to take a look. They'll probably try and fob me off, but worth a go as it is still under 30 days since purchase, and has 12 months warranty. I'll post the outcome.

My 08 S3 is fine, no vibration at all so I would suggest it's not normal.
I'd take it back in asap, as it'll give you more leverage to get it sorted before your 30 days are up. As you say you will still have your 12 months warranty but it'll give you more options if there is a problem!

Mine experinced the same - an 8P2, i took it back to the dealers and posted on here about it. Dealers said nothing to worry about and couldn't find a problem.... it strangely disappeared after a while and never came back in the 4 years of ownership.

Similar sort of experience with mine (Audi A3 1.9 Tdi) @ 35k. There were vibrations on the clutch pedal and judder on idle. Took to Audi Dealers and it costed me around £1300 for new clutch kit + flywheel. Now got 2years of warranty on it. Judder has gone but there are still vibrations on the clutch when you rest your foot on it which is unusual. Will book with them again to check the vibrations.

I also drove their loan car for a week or so which was 12 plate with 2000 miles on it. I felt the same clutch pedal vibrations on it without any judder on idle.

I am now bit confused... What you guys suggest, do you all have clutch vibrations on your A3 TDI's???

My 19k 1.4 TFSI 10 plate has this. Slightly worried about it to be honest. What is the overall consensus on this?

I have the same engine and the exact same problem. I don't want to fork out for a new clutch if its only going to be the same. It's a bit annoying but when driving I have no problems at all.
