I have been playing around with a 2012 A4 the past couple of weeks doing various codings, & seeing what is available etc.

I have managed to enable Video In Motion now so that the DVD's can be watched whilst vehicle moving.

The system is 3G MMI & works perfectly. A great addition for the passengers!!

Anyone with a 2012 A4 had this done yet?

ive done it for a number of people but its not legal to drive when vim is enabled

My MY2010 has VIM enabled. Enabling it is not illegal but as I understand it, it the driver is able to see moving images whilst the car's moving then that is.

Happy to receive info from APautomotive if he knows more on the legality.

Please add the info to enable this so others can benefit, specific coding areas & settings.

I think that the function of shutting down the dvd once handbrake released/set speed reached is a safety function.

Tampering with the factory safety functions is frowned upon.

I don't know the specific legalities but I would imagine that if an accident was caused & it was found the the VIM safety function had been tampered with, there would be certain legal implications

Oh I thought you new something about this and the legality of it.

If anyone enables this then be careful. If Plod see this in your car, they can pull you and nick you.

Sorry, my post may have been misleading.

I just meant who am I to argue with a customer, if thats what they ask for and know the risks, then I will do as requested

I have 3G MMI, but it does not seem to want to play a DVD at any time. Should it?

I've asked the other half's dad about this before (ex-traffic) and this is correct. If you are able to see the video from your seat whilst driving it is an offence and you will be charged with careless or dangerous driving. I was going to do this but not really worth the number of times you'd actually use is versus the penalty really... :(

Yes only the version with Tech pack high will play DVD's, fortunately it was only a £500 option on my SE Technik, which still hasnt sodding arrived, comes into the country today unless audi do something stupid again lol!

Yeah, mine took awhile too, worth the wait though :)

Hope your as happy as I am, shame about not having a rear cup holder though, the kids are just not happy with the down grade there :)

Cool voice navigation once you've done the training and remembered the options.
