I've just put a deposit on a S Line Sportback with said roof. I'm just curious on how it operates, seems that it only Tilts up and does not fully retract into the roof lining, is this right?

I've spent the best part of 2months looking for a Black S. Line and have found this one, has loads of toys including the Heated Leather seats, Concert Sound etc. but the only option I couldn't find was the Sat Nav, pick it up Monday.

yes thats right it opens over the top of the roof and only the front roof retracts as the rear is fixed.

On this subject, has anyone had theres tinted? gets a tad warm at times during the 4 days of sunshine we get per year!

Also, key can be programmed to tilt open and fully close the roof, together with the windows.
So if your picking up from a dealer, ask if they can programme it for free.

Wouldn't mind this on mine... no doubt the dealer will charge though!!

This should be a std feature AFAIK? It certainly worked on my car. Just hold the lock / unlock button down and wait ...

No on my car, the function was not activated. Took it ages to work out how to activate.

Thanks for the answers. The window close and open feature on the key works already, didn't try the roof bit though.
Been reading the forum for a while now and it confirmed I needed a BKD engine and manual box, don't want big expenditure down the line if the DPF, injectors or Dsg systems play up.

Roof OPEN function doesn't operate and isn't available on most model years.

Close? certainly. Windows open & close? -Absolutely.

But not the roof.

Now... Tinted? -Yes. Absolutely. I aded Llumar 35% tint to mine. -ESSENTIAL in Florida. -Also I made a set of reflective insulating sunshades to tuck behind the blinds for longer park times in the sunshine... they make a MASIVE difference, and the factory should offer them. -Cost me only a couple of quid to make, but they could sell for MUCH more with an Audi badge on!.

Also, since it DOES get warm with all that glass, I recommend getting the windscreen reflective shade also.

Don't think anyone covered this accurately yet, but also while the sunroof doesn't "retract INTO the roof lining", it does NOT "just tilt up"... It retracts ABOVE the roof. -Be mindful of this if you plan to use an aftermarket roof rack system... not all of them can clear the roof glass. I have the Audi roof bars on mine and they clear the glass nicely, as do a couple of other aftermarket ones, but CHECK FIRST if you're going to buy anything like that.

All windows are tinted in my car, and the sunroof is an excellent match... just make sure your installer is content with working on that surface. -If the're at all hesitant... go somewhere else.

Okay guys try this if your roof will not open or close with the key fob.
It solved my problem.

1. Open roof to tilt or fully open position and keep button held for +6 secs.
2. Close roof fully and keep button held for +6 secs.
3. Do this 3 times.

Now lock car. After 30 seconds on key fob, keep 'unlock button' pressed to open roof & windows

Just tried and doesnt work...:(

Oh well, looks like you'll need VCDS to tick the right settings, then try the previous procedure again.

Cool shade idea, I was thinking of some of those stick on types people use for kids, with a nice picture of a bear or something!

Picked up the car today all ok. The roof opens 2 ways as it should, (Helps reading the handbook) The global closing and opening only works when you put the key in the lock and hold to lock position for a few seconds, reminds me when I had a Golf with all these extras which worked in the same way. I'm a happy boy now.

Now--------The Toyota BAuris is up for sale, I hate that car, even though it is newer, less mileage and lots of toys. made my back ache :puke:

That sounds like a coding issue. From memory, in VCDS the key fob option needs to be activated so you can use it remotely rather than standing by car with key in lock.

Am curious about this...i really want to know can i open and close my windows and panoramic roof with my key fob?

Thanks

Anybody know the VCDS code for the windows so I can tell the dealer?

Hello guys, im new here ...im struggling to close the panoramic roof with key and have tried the suggestions posted above ...got any advice for me? Audi south africa has advised that its not possible ...and have checked with VCDS and everything seems to be in order ...im driving a 2010 a3 1.8t

Roof closing is usually by putting the key into the door lock and keeping it in the lock position for 2 or 3 secs. The doors lock first, then the windows and lastly the roof. If you want to do it all remotely then I believe you have to re-programme the key fob.

Alright I get that ...I have tried the step you are mentioning and it works perfectly ...I was hoping it would be possible to do it with just the remote as ive seen some guy doing it on youtube ..:3sadwalk:
