What have you done today?

I've been thinking of gloss blacking the rails, B/C pillar covers and door corner trims, and mirrors on the Avant.

I have a set of mirrors in ebony black already, cant decide if i want to use those and do the other stuff the same metallic black color, or if i should have the lot done in actual gloss black?

Thoughts?

Arnt they already gloss on a facelift?
I thought it was the pre-facelift that has matt black pillars.

Gloss black roof rails could be interesting.
The mirrors will just look like basic bogo mirrors.

I've been out and plasti dipped my window rubbers, so they all look a bit better now.
Also fitted a new fuel filter
Was meant to do more but broke the blind, lost my plug and can't be assed now. :(
I'm off to play batman.

Well ive just checked my levels and give it a quick polish all ready for the drive to alton towers tomorrow for my birthday. Also thinking of getting a red letter day in a R8 :)

Pillars are gloss but scratched and rusty. I have another set from the prefacelift, so i thaught i could have those painted. Rails are just matt black as PFL. Mirrors could look boggo, but at the same time, with the black roof and pillars it could look good, especially if i have the bases painted as well.

^^^ only just breaking her in i see lol only about another 150k to go till she dies.

Whilst im on here might as well add ive just replaced the crackling drivers door speaker, removed the sony 6 disc from beneath the glovebox as ive replaced the head unit for a sony AUX unit to stop me cluttering the car with my massive CD collection that didnt go well with the misses when i walked in with a **** load of CD's just after she had finished cleaning :) and ive measured up all the interior lights and door lights inc the one in the boot and ordered up some LED's and ive gone for a differant approach ive gone for the amsterdam shop window look going to look like a brothel on wheels with some red LED's lol pics to come !!

She might live past that if I have my way or she might die tomorrow if the wife gets her way. lol

My AC died about a month ago, after some testing and hunting for the leak we found it.
Its the evaporator and the AC man is very shocked, he has never replaced or ordered on for the B5 before. When he ordered the part his supplier was shocked as well.

Yesterday I was given this unit.

My weekend task is to fit the damn thing.
Dash out again, heather matrix out again and strip.
I like working on my car but there are some jobs that I hate with so much passion and this is one of them.

dude, when you do that, can you create a "how to get the dash assembly out"? be useful for others (me included) if the same happens, or for when i want to replace the colour of my interior.... :salute:

I thought I did a post on it before...........might have been random images.
But yeah sure.

Not today but over the weekend apart from the head which only needs the headbolts removed and it`ll come right off everything was removed from the car worth selling. Currently the car sits like this lol!

Yep the front is just sitting on the arms and the rear is just resting on the beam lol.

Subframe is on the concrete. Its getting craned away once the head is off so i couldnt be ***** to swap the suspension over.

Its actually got a touch lower since then lol

+1 on that suggestion.

Scott, you had done one earlier for removing the heater, but IIRC all the dash was removed - it may have been in your project thread???.

(You might also want to tell that Dodgy Geezer who is doing a B5 FAQ sticky :icon_thumright: )

I'll try and remember to take proper pics of each section and what to remove.
I tend to get caught up in the job and forget about pictures.

I think I know the dodgy geezer you refer to. Got a daft Bristolian accent as well I think.

Well today ive fitted the red led interior bulbs and some H7 LED fog light bulbs and ive noticed aswell that my o/s/f fog doesnt sit flush to the grill and found the bumper has had a repair on that side oh well can live with that for now next time bumper is off i will have a ganders.

Pics are crap i no iphones for you need to invest in a decent camera lol the red leds arent that visible unless theres no street lights but in the car they do there job to a certain extent lol

97' 2.8 V6 5-speed Quattro. Converted to one piece headlights after 4 hours of modifying for fitment. Picked up Symphony radio and framework to plan out process in converting center console to double din. Looking into picking up new wire to connect set of fog lights I picked up a few days ago. Also, found a full size passenger mirror assembly with the same color, but the mirror itself is missing. Just itching to see how it all turns up.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1346571241764749ImageUploadedByTapatalk1346571294285735ImageUploadedByTapatalk1346571324567809ImageUploadedByTapatalk1346571348317962

Full size?

Do you guys have mini mirrors over there?

Nice one on the conversion. facelift lights really brighten up the front end and the road where you are going.

Cam cover looks good.

What K04 is it? An -015?

This weekend:

Put my S4 rear bumper and skirts in for painting.
Fitted new brakes to the avant
Fixed a boost leak/split breather on the avant.
Cleaned/degreased the engine bay on the track car, put the front end on stands, removed the hashed together suspension that was fitted to move it around last year.

yep 015
bought of soupie69 ages ago but just been sat on a shelf till the other week

Cool, what you planning to do for a tune? I've got a 3" VR6 MAF i bought off ebay for mine, but i'll be using an S3 one now, let me know if your interested. I've also got a set of C20LET injectors, but they really need new pintle caps.

Not really today but last week.
Still, it gives us something to read.

I picked up 2 8mm spacers and 2 10mm spacers from Colin and Joe (Thanks Lads
thumbs-up.gif
) as a test fit to see what size would fit.

I finally got round to fitting them yesterday.

8mm on the front and 10mm on the back.
Here's some pics.

Not today but recently dropped the oil, cured my oil leek with a new turbo oil return to dump gasket then added a vw trabsporter oil filter and refilled with oil :)

Need to sort out the headlights next as they are dire. I'm used to his so the tea lights that my QTS seems to use to light the way need sorting.

Did a oil service over the weekend, all good nothing special.
Put in some Bardhal Oil and turbo protect.

Last oil change I fitted a magnetic sump plug, that was about 10k ago. I know I got a bit slack in oil changes. next one is at 150k, 4k away.
I was expecting allot of metal bits attached to the magnet but there was nothing.
It was clean.

I can only assume that's a good thing and that makes me happy. :jump:

Fitted the nearly new tail lamps supplied by a nice guy from Plymouth (cheers) - look good.
Fixed a leaking o-ring on the coolant pipe on the rear of the block which was costing me a fortune on coolant.
All need to do now is fix my exhaust silencer bracket which has rusted away. which i only just noticed!!!

Can you just get the O ring or is it new pipe required?

I've finished another barrel of home-brew beer - but have another 40 pints ready to replace it.............. :beerchug:

if that doesn't count, I've freed off my saloons' sticking calipers - AGAIN!
